  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is total hypocrisy! You would not blink an eye if McCain had won even though he was born on foreign soil (not in an US military baracks but in a normal Panamanian Hospital).
It is my opinion that You are just upset that a Black man is your President!

Why would I be upset if someone is black?

What's wrong with being black?

I wanna know why you think having black skin is a negative thing.

Seems to me that you are the one with the racism issue, not me.

The fall-back position of accusations of racism when liberals lose an argument is getting old.

The fact is that Obama once was proud of the fact that he was born in Kenya and everybody knew it.

Now, he's covering it up, rather clumsily (and illegally), and has the help of his pet media.

So I guess you missed the whole part where he released his long form birth certificate and everybody said "Oh, glad that's over with" and moved on, right?

And the whole "I didn't say anything about his race, YOU did, YOU must be the racist *bats eyes innocently*" is completely bogus. A white guy with an anglo name would never, ever have to put up with this crap and you know it.

Because they where Caucasians.

This is really the heart of it. They hate the fact that a n-word got in but they no longer can say it anymore without looking like a bigot.

This is the same way people that hate homosexuals and do not wish to appear to world as intolerant feel and think when they hear of a gay parade coming.

I will hear them try and bury their hate by saying, "it is OK that they have their life, but WHY must they stick it in my face?".

All the while their straight life is being advertised in every commercial, print ad, song and movie. And Gays are supposed to be OK that straight love is plastered all over but they should not be represented.

No difference.

Covered!
Been here?
Article Two of the United States Constitution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

that's what the clause "at the time" was there for, to cover the people who's parents weren't citizens of a country that didn't exist yet.
it's the 6 other Presidents who had one or more foreign-born parent none of the birthers seem interested in. :sorry:

as one of the most relentless opponents of the dear leader one can find anywhere, I think the usefulness of the birther movement is finished. sure, it was fun whipping up opposition based on where he was actually born, and it convinced a certain percentage of voters to vote against democratic policies and candidates out of disgust and rage. so, even as a stone cold slander, it was worth it.

no one with any common sense believed it, if little barry were actually a foreign born islam, then the GOP would have destroyed him if the clintons hadn't done it first. but -- it was worth votes just making the claim.

now, the whole thing is just getting dumb and dumber: from the coward lakin to the pixel counters to the amateur legal scholars who don't have enough sense to tell day from night.

its time for you people to find another hobby.

Types Of Citizenship: Jus Soli, Jus Sanguinis, Natural Born, Native Born, Naturalized

Jus soli citizenship: "Jus soli" is a Latin phrase meaning "law of the soil."

Jus soli citizenship is any citizenship that inheres in a person based on the location of his or her birth.

Jus sanguinis citizenship: "Jus sanguinis" is a Latin phrase meaning "law of the blood." Jus sanguinis citizenship is any citizenship that inheres in a person based on his or her ancestry.

Native born citizenship: A native born citizen is one whose citizenship derives from the facts of his birth, and who becomes a citizen at the moment of birth. In both US and British law, those born within the sovereign territory of the country or born to parents who are citizens (subjects) of the country when the person is born are native citizens (subjects.) Native born persons are said to have "birthright citizenship." Note that one can be "native born" either by the "jus soli" principle or by the "jus sanguinis" principle.

Naturalized citizenship: A naturalized citizen is one whose citizenship is granted by statute or by the decision or act of a sovereign.
Natural born citizenship: A natural born citizen is one whose citizenship is beyond dispute, not synthetic, not subject to conflicting claims, not granted by statute or by any act of a sovereign, but inheres naturally in the person according to principles that don't depend on laws or decisions of a sovereign.

NOT GOING AWAY!

Lets see where Barry would fall under these definitions even if he can force Hawaii to cover for his Kenyan birth. Hmmm.

Rather than spamming the same post on different threads (like you just did, since the original is here), let me just point you to this post.

Well, as long as it's an either/or scenario as you describe, and Obama was, in fact, born within the sovereign territory of the United States (Hawaii), then he is, by your own definition, a "native born citizen," and therefore eligible for the presidency.

You say it's "not going away," Herbie, but by your own definition, you just got rid of it.

You have our thanks -- now run along.

You want to know the best part of the birther movement? They're at the stage where they not only don't have anything to back up their arguments, they're trotting out the same arguments that have been debunked years ago. ;)
tulc(the other thing is: birthers helped get President Obama elected the first time and it's nice to see they plan on helping this time also)

Any distinction between "Natural Born," and "Native Born" is nugatory. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but there's no legal legitimacy to it whatsoever. Isn't there enough in Obama's policies to criticize, without resorting to meaningless contrivances?
