With all due respect. And I say this is someone who tried this once.

The Law of Moses was for the Jews.

No where in the New Testament are Christians commanded to rest on the Sabbath. No where. We do, however, see a number of passages giving us liberty to *not* rest on the Sabbath. Which is significant.

If you try to observe one aspect of Mosaic Law, which while God given was meant only for the Jews, you must observe all. If Messiah fulfills the Law, He fulfils all of it. All of it. Not just one part, but all parts. The Sabbath, the dietary stuff, the family purity laws, the animal sacrifice stuff, the high holy day stuff, the rule about not wearing clothing of mixed fibers, the mold stuff, the skin disease stuff, the female conditions stuff, all of it. All of it.

Please understand. All of it. We are under Christ. Not Moses. That means that our righteous with God is through faith in the Son, and obeying the Son, and those He appointed as Apostles, and living for Him, in Him, and because of Him, by His grace. That's the Christian life. To reduce so much of it to the Sabbath and then rail against the Catholic Church just makes you look extremely poorly informed, Sister. It does. Forgive me, but it's true.

Really? Thou shalt not murder---for Jews only? Thou shalt not steal---for Jews only? Thou shalt not take the name of God in vain---for Jews only? All the commandments wee for Jews only? Without the law there is no sin. So only the Jews are guilty of sin?? Cain killing Abel was not a sin?--they weren't Jews. When Jesus set aside the 7thday sabbath at creation---there were no Jews yet.

Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath---He did not say the Sabbath was made for the Jew. The Israelites brought a huge mixed multitude with them---they wer5e to keep the laws of God also. And the Jews were never to have kept the salvation of man---the sanctuary process--0-to themselves. They were supposed to have taken it to the world---instead they became exclusive. Jesus had to restore the evangelistic side to His message. Salvation is of the Jews, Jesus said---He did not say salvation is only for the Jews!

God's 10 commandments were written on stone with the hand of God Himself and placed inside the ark. The ceremonial laws, dictated by God and written by Moses were kept beside the ark, not in it.
The ceremonial laws were done away with at the cross, for Jesus became the Sacrifice. The 10, the morsel law---were kept in the earthly ark which was a representation of the heavenly ark--and which still contain the original ones in the heavenly ark of the testament.

Rev_11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

They are forever---Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

All has not been fulfilled---He has not returned yet.

And BTW---I've not railed against the Catholic Church! And it is you that is not aware of what your own church has said about the Sabbath.

Do you believe that the New Testament is enough for us to know what we should and should not be doing as Christians?

Are you aware that all that Jesus and the disciples had and that all first Christians had, was the OT?? The NT had not been written for another 70 years. They were letters passed around. And it took a long time to pass them around. I believe the bible, in it's entirety, is to be taken as the word of God.

I already answered that question---the bible is to be taken in it's entirety. Do you believe the OT has enough for us to know what to do and not do as Christians---as the first Christians did, like the Ethiopian eunuch? Why would anyone want to do away with any part of the bible?

The first Christians were taught orally what the disciples had received from Christ, long before the Gospels were written or any of the Epistles.

The Jews had the Old Testament, yet many of them did not recognise Christ.

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

They only had the OT to study. All the disciples couldn't get around to all 5,000 people accepting Christ in one day. And it is true they didn't---but what did Christ do with His disciples after the resurrection on the road to Emmaus?

Luk 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

It is there for those who want to see. U don't believe in doing away with any of the word of God. That is like---what part of God do you want to do away with?

I already answered that question---the bible is to be taken in it's entirety.

Do you still sacrifice animals to atone of your sins?

There are many things taught in the Bible we don't do anymore. Some pretty obvious, some are not.

Like most Christian assume the teachings in Proverbs are the right stuff, not looking at Ecclesiastes and the teachings of Christ.

When you take the bible in it's entirety, you know that Jesus is now our sacrifice and through His blood we are saved. The study of the sanctuary service itself, shows all that. No part should be neglected.

No, he did not create Christianity---he simply tried to regulate it with government controls.

Constantine created the earliest Sunday law known to history in AD 321. It says this:

The first quote is from History of the Christian Church: Third Period: Nicene and post-Nicene Christianity: From Constantine the Great to Gregory the Great A.D. 311-600

Romans 14 and "first day" in the NT shows Christians worshiped on Sunday too. From the context in Phillip Schaff, we learn it was a rule for all religions for the purpose of good order.
The Christians as history below in the next posts will show that they worshiped on Sunday.

Augistine:

"and hence the eighth day also will have eternal blessedness, because that rest, being eternal, is taken up by the eighth day, not destroyed by it; for if it were thus destroyed, it would not be eternal. Accordingly the eighth day, which is the first day of the week, represents to us that original life, not taken away, but made eternal."
CHURCH FATHERS: Letter 55 (St. Augustine)

"Chapter 13
23. The Lord's day, however, has been made known not to the Jews, but to Christians, by the resurrection of the Lord, and from Him it began to have the festive character which is proper to it. For the souls of the pious dead are, indeed, in a state of repose before the resurrection of the body, but they are not engaged in the same active exercises as shall engage the strength of their bodies when restored. Now, of this condition of active exercise the eighth day (which is also the first of the week) is a type, because it does not put an end to that repose, but glorifies it. For with the reunion of the body no hindrance of the soul's rest returns, because in the restored body there is no corruption: for this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:53 Wherefore, although the sacramental import of the 8th number, as signifying the resurrection, was by no means concealed from the holy men of old who were filled with the spirit of prophecy (for in the title of Psalms [vi. and xii.] we find the words for the eighth, and infants were circumcised on the eighth day; and in Ecclesiastes it is said, with allusion to the two covenants, Give a portion to seven, and also to eight ); nevertheless before the resurrection of the Lord, it was reserved and hidden, and the sabbath alone was appointed to be observed, because before that event there was indeed the repose of the dead (of which the sabbath rest was a type), but there was not any instance of the resurrection of one who, rising from the dead, was no more to die, and over whom death should no longer have dominion; this being done in order that, from the time when such a resurrection did take place in the Lord's own body (the Head of the Church being the first to experience that which His body, the Church, expects at the end of time), the day upon which He rose, the eighth day namely (which is the same with the first of the week), should begin to be observed as the Lord's day. The same reason enables us to understand why, in regard to the day of keeping the passover, on which the Jews were commanded to kill and eat a lamb, which was most clearly a foreshadowing of the Lord's Passion, there was no injunction given to them that they should take the day of the week into account, waiting until the sabbath was past, and making the beginning of the third week of the moon coincide with the beginning of the third week of the first month; the reason being, that the Lord might rather in His own Passion declare the significance of that day, as He had come also to declare the mystery of the day now known as the Lord's day, the eighth namely, which is also the first of the week. ... in order to connect its observance with the more sacred associations of this solemn season, and at the same time to prevent its being confounded with baptism in any way, have selected for this ceremony either the eighth day itself, or that on which the third eighth day occurs, because of the great significance of the number three in many holy mysteries."
CHURCH FATHERS: Letter 55 (St. Augustine)

The Epistle of Ignatius to the Magnesians

Chapter 9. Let us live with Christ

If, therefore, those who were brought up in the ancient order of things have come to the possession of a new hope, no longer observing the sabbath, but living in the observance of the Lord's day, on which also our life has sprung up again by Him and by His death — whom some deny, by which mystery we have obtained faith, and therefore endure, that we may be found the disciples of Jesus Christ, our only Master — how shall we be able to live apart from Him, whose disciples the prophets themselves in the Spirit did wait for Him as their Teacher? And therefore He whom they rightly waited for, having come, raised them from the dead. Matthew 27:52

Romans 14:5-6 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
5 Some people might believe that one day is more important than another. And others might believe that every day is the same. Everyone should be sure about their beliefs in their own mind. 6 Those who think one day is more important than other days are doing that for the Lord. And those who eat all kinds of food are doing that for the Lord. Yes, they give thanks to God for that food. And those who refuse to eat some foods do that for the Lord. They also give thanks to God.

But lest I appear now to diverge to other subjects, understand what I say: the blood of that circumcision is obsolete, and we trust in the blood of salvation; there is now another covenant, and another law has gone forth from Zion. Jesus Christ circumcises all who will — as was declared above— with knives of stone; Joshua 5:2; Isaiah 26:2-3 that they may be a righteous nation, a people keeping faith, holding to the truth, and maintaining peace. Come then with me, all who fear God, who wish to see the good of Jerusalem.

On the Creation of the World (Victorinus)
"On the seventh day He rested from all His works, and blessed it, and sanctified it. On the former day we are accustomed to fast rigorously, that on the Lord's day we may go forth to our bread with giving of thanks." CHURCH FATHERS: On the Creation of the World (Victorinus)

Epistle of Barnabas
"Wherefore, also, we keep the eighth day with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose again from the dead. And when He had manifested Himself, He ascended into the heavens."

(Cyprian of Carthage) > Epistle 58
"For because the eighth day, that is, the first day after the sabbath, was to be that on which the Lord should rise again, and should quicken us, and give us circumcision of the spirit, the eighth day, that is, the first day after the sabbath, and the Lord's day, went before in the figure; which figure ceased when by and by the truth came, and spiritual circumcision was given to us." During the sabbath He continued under the earth in the tomb in which Joseph of Arimathæa had laid Him. At the dawning of the Lord’s day He arose from the dead, according to what was spoken by Himself, “As Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, so shall the Son of man also be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” The day of the preparation, then, comprises the passion; the sabbath embraces the burial; the Lord’s Day contains the resurrection

Lost Fragment #7
This [custom], of not bending the knee upon Sunday, is a symbol of the resurrection, through which we have been set free, by the grace of Christ, from sins, and from death, which has been put to death under Him. Now this custom took its rise from apostolic times, as the blessed Irenaeus, the martyr and bishop of Lyons, declares in his treatise On Easter, in which he makes mention of Pentecost also; upon which [feast] we do not bend the knee, because it is of equal significance with the Lord's day, for the reason already alleged concerning it.

Chrysostom Homily 15 wrote, "3. Let us not then grieve, beloved, let us not despond on account of the present tribulation, but let us admire the well-devised plan of God's wisdom. For by these very means through which the devil hoped to overturn our city, has God restored and corrected it. The devil animated certain lawless men to treat the very statues of the Emperor contemptuously, in order that the very foundations of the city might be razed. But God employed this same circumstance for our greater correction; driving out all sloth by the dread of the expected wrath: and the thing has turned out directly opposite to what the devil wished, by the means which he had himself prepared. For our city is being purified every day; and the lanes and crossings, and places of public concourse, are freed from lascivious and voluptuous songs; and turn where we will there are supplications, and thanksgivings, and tears, instead of rude laughter; there are words of sound wisdom instead of obscene language, and our whole city has become a Church, the workshops being closed, and all being engaged throughout the day in these general prayers; and calling upon God in one united voice with much earnestness. What preaching, what admonition, what counsel, what length of time had ever availed to accomplish these things?

4. For this then let us be thankful, and let us not be petulant or discontented; for that fear is a good thing, what we have said has made manifest. But hear Solomon thus uttering a lesson of wisdom concerning it; Solomon, who was nourished in every luxury, and enjoyed much security. What then does he say? It is better to go to the house of mourning than to the house of laughter. What do you say, I ask? Is it better to go where there is weeping, lamentation, and groans, and anguish, and so much sadness, than where there is the dance, the cymbals, and laughter, and luxury, and full eating and drinking? Yes, verily, he replies. And tell me why is it so, and for what reason? Because, at the former place, insolence is bred, at the latter, sobriety." I have never heard it claimed that Constantine created Christianity. Unless we are saying that Jesus merely restored a relationship, while Constantine created an organized religion. I never bought into that line of thought.

Thank You for pointing that out. It may be a good idea for each to summarize their positions.

My position is one should only study history from primary sources in that time period. Rather than copy and paste from stale poleminics like those on wikipedia. Also, include links to sources being quoted, so others can check context.

Clearly in the quotes in the above post, Eight Day is the Lord's Day which is not the Sabbath day. The quotes make a strong contrast.

There is no 8th day---check any calendar.
On the first day of the week in Acts 20:7 was a meeting on Saturday night, the First day of the week began (as all days did in Israel) at Sundown. That is why Sabbath starts sundown Fri. night. That was instituted by Jesus at creation week--- The disciples were meeting after Sundown, sat. night --it was not a Sunday morning worship service, it was a Sat. night meeting to say goodbye to Paul. There is no verse in the entire bible that states GOD has changed the 7th day Sabbath to the 1st day of the week. As soon as you find that verse, you shut up all Sabbatarians. The 7th day Sabbath was instituted at creation week by Jesus Himself (He was the creator of all things, John 1) What God has instituted, not once but several times (creation week, then twice at Mt. Zion after Moses broke the 1st set of tablets)
What God has written with His own hand in stone no man has any right to change. You are free to think otherwise and go by what man has decided---I will not.

No, he just made it mandatory. It was still optional during Constantine's day. Even the Reformation is full of "state" religions. Check your history. Why do you think we in America expressed a separation of Church and State. Again, check your history. o_O

At this point I am seeing separation of Church and State as a bad thing. Is it true that Thomas Jefferson was a deist ?

Obviously you did not read all the accounts of non-SDA's who kept the 7th day.
There are some, that's right. The Herbert W. Armstrong spin-off churches for instance. However, the SDAs are best known for making the arguments that have been made here on this thread.

Someone need to study history:
The Council of Laodicea of around 365 decreed 59 laws, #29:

Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ. (Percival Translation).[12]

Source Wikipedia

Ancient Epitome of Canon XXIX.

A Christian shall not stop work on the Sabbath, but on the Lord’s Day.

Balsamon.

Here the Fathers order that no one of the faithful shall stop work on the Sabbath as do
the Jews, but that they should honour the Lord’s Day, on account of the Lord’s resurrection, and that on that day they should abstain from manual labour and go to church. But thus abstaining from work on Sunday they do not lay down as a necessity, but they add, “if they can.” For if through need or any other necessity any one worked on the Lord’s day this was not reckoned against him.
Philip Schaff: NPNF2-14. The Seven Ecumenical Councils - Christian Classics Ethereal Library

Overall, a So What comes to mind, since I already provided primary sources that shows that Christians even from the beginning of the Church worshiped on Sunday. I am sure some in the beginning worshiped everyday. Romans 14, search Bible "eight day", "first day"

Acts 2:46
And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Acts 16:5
And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

Hebrews 3:13
But exhort one another daily, while it is still called “today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
