I don't understand your position. Would you actively oppose Christians who did want to abolish no-fault divorce?

This is what I'm talking about. Christians fighting to protect people's freedom to be degenerate is really problematic.

Oh really?? ... the last half century has been a strong trend of Christians doing exactly the opposite... retreating from the political sphere. And has there ever been a time of greater 'compromise' with the world?

I think your take on this is totally wrong.

that's what Laws are actually meant to do!... they put restraints on evil behavior. (and as a result direct people towards more lawful behaviors)

God established the laws He wanted and anointed prophets, priests, and kings to lead the kingdom of Israel so that people would follow His laws and live godly lives.

Do you know what happened? It failed, so God sent his son to die on the cross.

If laws could effectively restrain evil behavior, then Jesus didn’t have to die on the cross.

The Letter to the Romans discusses the failure of laws and the triumph of grace.

The desire among some Christians to implement biblical law on earth appears to be in direct contradiction to the teachings of the New Testament.

got it... guess we better go ahead and decriminalize theft, murder, child p*rn, etc. can't legislate morality after all. /sarcasm

I think this is a fundamental misinterpretation...

We are freed from the law of sin by the cross.

But Grace is not something that abolishes the law of natural order itself. People are still expected to maintain that order and be intolerant of evil in society, and people do that through laws. (as Paul discusses in Romans 13 and elsewhere)

Christians are also expected to support governments that are a terror to evil. There is a fundamental natural order we are supposed to uphold, regardless of one's personal state of salvation by the cross.

I do not disagree with the laws, rules, and regulations needed in a society to ensure safety and maintain order. In Pakistan, there are laws to punish those who commit rape, fraud, or murder. In the Middle East, there are laws against fornication, and in India, there are laws against pornography. These are secular laws intended to create a better, safer, and more orderly society. However, none of these laws make someone a better Christian.

The point I want to make is that some Christians throughout history have been obsessed with implementing Biblical laws, a Biblical society, and a Christian nation. To achieve this, they sometimes compromise their Christian teachings and Biblical principles. For instance, in another discussion, we are debating whether a man divorced twice and married three times can be considered a devout Christian. Those who view him as devout Christian are willing to compromise Biblical principles because he aligns with their political agenda.

I don't oppose Christians being involved in politics, running for office, or becoming heads of state. Christians can make better leaders than those who don't know God. However, if Christians must compromise their principles to achieve these goals, it's not worth getting involved in politics, running for office, or supporting politicians who dilute Christianity to lead in government.

Does your Bible leave out Romans chapter 13? We are free from the law of sin and death, but still have a responsibility to be good citizens where He places us, following Him first Acts 5:29

The key is being a "good citizen." Christians must obey the law, be good citizens, and live harmoniously with everyone. That is what Romans 13 is all about.

The implementation of Biblical law on earth as a means to create better Christians is not supported by New Testament teachings.
