How many countries, past or present, have influential people traveling the world getting paid to give speeches that are anti-country or anti-leaders?
Mmmm...probably pert near every country has someone of influence making statements that some fellow natives may disagree with, no matter how true it may be.

I don't know how it is in the U.S.A., but in this neck of the wood we recognize a concept called FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE, which means we are free to hold and express views and opinions regardless of anyone else's views and regardless of whether the majority agrees or disagrees with our personal views. Critizing the government is a fundamental right here and for our democrazy to work fresh ideas, differing point of views, accountability, criticism etc., both from inside and outside the establishment, are considered necessary. Our tax money is in good work when someone dares to point out the emperor has no clothes and is still squandering our money on those invisible clothes.

I have no problem with them having dissenting views... or even making speeches and getting paid for them... IN OUR COUNTRY.

I do have a problem with them going overseas to do so.

So you believe that free speech for our citizens is limited to only the US?

You understand that the world media reports on what goes on in your country.

We can hear you from over there.

Maybe this would have mattered 100 years ago...but today we have these things called tv, satellite, and internet. It doesn't matter where one says it...it can be heard all over the world. I.e. When Leslie Stahl interviewed Albright and she admitted the US was responsible for killing 500,000 Iraqi children. Some Americans refuse to acknowledge that and many Arab stations played that interview for quite a while.

So Americans can have Freedom of Speech as long as they are ONLY doing it in America? What kind of "Freedom" is that?

That's fine.

There is something wrong with someone in a position of power getting paid to go to a foreign country and bash their own.
