Indeed the account of David and Bathsheba comes to mind. One is saved but one must also stay pure and repent when one sins.
If a saved person murders someone and does not repent or ask God for forgiveness what do u think happens to their soul when they die?
"Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us"
Every word of Our Lords prayer is important.
I'll say this, you totally missed the point I was making. I thank you for your response tho. God BlessI believe being born again is also a part of being a new creature in christ Jesus... not just accepting him as a savior for forgiveness of sins that's only 1/4th of the salvation process if anything (forgiveness of sins)
Repentance= 1. forgiveness/2. change of heart (2 components to repentance)
3. baptism in jesus name
4. Holy Ghost reception
Anyway yes you still confess/deal with sins if you have any becoming a new creature doesn't mean you become perfect you most likely will commit a sin here or there especially the first few months in.
1 John 2:1King James Version (KJV)
2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
James 5:16 - Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Can you elaborate on the point you were making? I thought I addressed the point clearly in the 2nd half of my statement I simply corrected something that was wrong in your OP before addressing the topic itself.I'll say this, you totally missed the point I was making. Your church is not perfect, which i think you would agree. So why should we criticise protestant churches for being imperfect? BTW, i have the answerToo many people think only 'they' have the answer.
This is the big problem with Protestantism. So many different interpretations / opinions / views / beliefs!
I was illustrating how it is no longer I who sin, but the sin that sins within me. The second part is that we still live in our bodies as new creations. Kind of like a luminous butterfly inside a decaying cuccoon. Until we break free of the body of death, both abide together. So both things are occurring, we are not committing sin, yet our bodies are producing sin that causes the physical shell to malfunction. What were you trying to say by posting Romans 7:17. Let's start there.

The general debate around these topics is about the intent of the hearts, which is something God can only know.
.
and that about sums it up.
It's such an odd existence. As we continue to trust God we grow in Him. When we are first born again, if we have a mind of Christ, we certainly don't know how to use it. But as we begin to live walking in faith, this trust is how his love grows within us and the faculties of the new person begin to become usable to us.So are you saying because the body will grow old and frail, that process is sin? What part of us do you believe is a new creation? Our spirit is for sure, but I guess the question I have for you is our carnal minds. Is it created new too?

Since we do not know what we are and what we will become, all we can do is trust him to learn as we become more like Jesus.
.
So as the saying goes, we are decaying on the outside but we are being renewed on the inside day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16)
If this makes sense to you, you should live by it until God shows you otherwise. Not exactly. When you sin, you've stepped out of the light, and out of fellowship with the spirit of 'Christ in you'. Your soul has lined up with your sinful flesh. Your perfect "new creation", born again spirit is "quenched", but still 100% saved and 'one spirit with the LORD'.
1TH 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
Two out of three always determine whose son you are at that moment. If your soul lines up with your born again spirit, you will 'crucify your flesh' and walk in the light of righteousness.
But if your Soul forsakes the leading of the spirit, and then agrees with your flesh you will step out of the light and manifest the works of the unrighteousness/devil.
After our spirit is born again we do not have a spirit problem causing us to sin. We have a soul problem.
Hope that makes sense, if not, keep asking questions.
There is nothing wrong in my post. your playing semantics, I'm saying When you accept jesus Christ as your Lord and savior you are a new creation in Christ and you are forgiven! now as a born again Christian when you confess your sins it's not to get forgiveness because you already received forgiveness. You confess your sins a way of acknowledging them before God, you repent and Thank God for the the blood of Jesus when gave you access to that forgiveness. Now if you choose to confess and every day ask God to forgive you "that's fine" but my point is your asking to receive something that was already given to you... That was my point. you started talking about born again, accepting christ etc... You went left fieldCan you elaborate on the point you were making? I thought I addressed the point clearly in the 2nd half of my statement I simply corrected something that was wrong in your OP before addressing the topic itself.
Here let me put it this way
1. I addressed a misconception of new birth
2. I then addressed the focus of your OP which was confessing/seeking forgiveness for sins
I don't see how I missed your OP at all but if I did explain.
Of course you do. Forgiveness requires repentence, and you cannot repent of sins you have not commmitted yet.Greetings my brothers and sisters in Christ. I come to you in Love and in the power of the Holy Spirit. There is a issue in the church today that I need to address and i'm asking for your views (backed by scripture of course). After you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and you like 2 Cor 5:17 states "Become new" do you still confess your sins to God seeking forgiveness? I know the truth, I just wanna see what others have to say on the topic....
you might need to reread what I said.
One has to have peace of mind so I must respond as I believe and as scripture teaches me, the problem I see with this view
then tell me this, when you were lost is that not how you lived and thought then?
When one is saved and they become new creations in Christ if there is no difference in my walk and thoughts and actions, I would not see that I am a new creation. Granted perfect holiness will never be reach I believe in this life except in Christ Jesus, but if there is no growth in a holy walk, I myself would be concerned and ask myself, why haven't I changed?
I am not making a judgment concerning you or your profession, just stating the difference in our views.
I read what you said.
You said:
This tells me that you disagreed with the post of mine that you quoted.
You then asked:
To which I said, "no", and tried to explain my position.
I did agree with what you said next:
Then you said:
I do agree with much of what you wrote, but you clearly saw a problem with my previous post and consider that we have different views.
I am not quite clear what we are supposed to disagree on.
I know the truth, I just wanna see what others have to say on the topic...
It would have added value had you shown where anyone has stated your remark: anyone who says we are saved by nothing but "saying" we have faith is looking for the easy way out, and chooses his own convenient truth, not that of God/Christ. would you please show that, I would like to see that post and see their other comments. ThanksJesus taught us how to pray with the lords prayer, the lords prayer includes "forgive us". So, of course we are to ask for forgiveness, that is unless we don't believe what Christ told us..
And since it appears this is another OSAS thread teaching the absurd theology, we can't lose salvation...anyone who says we are saved by nothing but "saying" we have faith is looking for the easy way out, and chooses his own convenient truth, not that of God/Christ..
