I have been fooling around with computers since 1982. Remember BASIC?? :D Got into Web design in 1996. Then I got a computer graphics degree in college and graduated five years ago. I'm into HTML, some programming, C++ is my favorite, and all that. Now I'd rather just get back to my hand work; art, painting, drawing, reading. Computers eat too many things to be very productive, at times. Need something a lot more tangible now. :)

I remember when the public library had Commodore 64's that you could check out and take home to use. Back when you could just hhok them up to your TV! I used to get compute's gazette and they would always have various programs you could type in. I once typed in many pages to program a baseball game on my C64.

What simple times those were.

I was just looking in my local news paper today and found some one trying to sell a couple Commadore 64's. The add said that some of them were new and still in there boxes.

My first computer was a TRS 80, and at that time (1980 something) I thought that I really had something great. I did learn basic and a little assembly language on it.

I love computers, love to put them together, and love to play games on them...but I also have to spend 40 hours a week on one, so that's why I'm on these forums chatting with real, live human beings! Computers aren't the most relational things. :o

I just hope you are using one of the many variants of Linux. I use Puppy. In fact, I am the guy who is currently working on ChurchPup Concordia Edition. Right now the alpha1 is available for download. I am expecting the alpha2 just before Thanksgiving. If all goes well with the alpha2, then I think that Release Candidate 1 will be available shortly after Christmas.

Also, there are some people working on what is tentatively called "BrikPup" for Lego MindStorm. I think PCPuppyOS just released a new ISO and I know that there is a new version of LightHouse Pup. I would heartiliy recommend any of them if you do not want to spend the money on a windows software license. Other good Linux variants include PCLInuxOS (you can guess where the guys of PCPuppyOS got the idea), Slax, and Mandriva. At least by using one (or more through dual boot in grub) of these, you can reduce part of the cost of your system.
