CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The competition has started, anyone can enter. But you can only submit ONE photo per competition. So choose your best!
Another point:
When it comes to voting for the winner, please take into consideration the quality and imagination in the photograph and the artisitic skill, not just where it was taken. Otherwise, somebody living next door to the Taj Mahal, will have an unfair advantage over somebody living in a grey council housing estate!

This is a picture of my life here in my part of the world. This is my son walking along an old country road to a Christian Camp. "Camp Wildwood" I love to walk out on this road with my family. I really like it here because you can see for miles but never see a building that interupts God's beautiful land.

I think we should run the competition for 1 week and then close it. Everyone gets 3 days to vote on the one they like.
I think we should send our vote to someone via email to keep it confidential. What do you think?

I was thinking more of a monthly thing...like 3 weeks for submitting then 1 week of voting. I also think that starting a new thread for each months competition would be wise...but that's just me. And regarding anonymous vote, aren't polls pretty much anonymous? But ultimately the decisions are up to Mr. Hako...it's his idea.

I take about 2,000 shots a month. I wonder what everyone else shoots. Is a week really to short to take one picture? A month for me is way to long.

2 things:
Can we post up a new thread for each new comp, maybe like: "Competition: My town" or whatever so we can find and navigate it easy.
And can we stretch it a bit longer than a week. Some of us only do this for fun so it takes a while to get out there and get the picture if we don't have something on file(and I'm only on every weekend if the line are up!!)

I think a month is a reasonable length for a competition. It's easy to remember...hey, it's April 1, time for a new competition. Plus, I'm not out every day taking pictures. This would give me a reason to get out and get some new pictures...but still. 1 month just seems to make the most sense. I think if we do it every week or every 2 weeks, that we won't get as many entries.
But again, let's see what Mr. Hako has to say.

I dont' see why we couldn't have a bi-weekly challenge and a monthly challenge.
Let's way "Your part of the World" for the monthly and let's say "flowers" for the bi-weekly.
What do you say? We can compromise.
