• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think it would be difficult for a protestant and a Catholic to have a harmonious marriage if neither of them is willing to follow the belief's of the other to a certain extent. The Catholic wouldn't believe in birth control and have certain beliefs about sex that a Protestant doesn't believe in and unless they decide which beliefs they are going to follow it might be difficult. But if they are not devout it wouldn't be too big of a problem. There are a lot of little differences, like views on baptism and communion.

This may come as a shock, but many Protestants, while not necessarily opposed to birth control, may not believe it to be forbidden.

Consider these scriptures:

Phi 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mindd

Mar 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

Don't you think these apply in this situation? I do.

Well, I don't know that I think they apply directly. I mean, the second one was in the context of people accusing Jesus of using the power of demons to drive demons out.

Christians who believe different things about the fine points of theology need not be "divided"; they may be together in Christ, despite those differences. This is what Paul was arguing for when telling people to stop arguing about which people they followed, and instead be together in Christ.

Asking that the leaders of a religious community try not to be contentious is not the same as saying it's a horrible problem for married people to disagree on points of theology.
