"Common design" is just a creationist catch phrase with no meaning in biology

Just pointing out the obvious. Probably not much to discuss beyond the thread title though.

In my two decades of debating this subject, I've yet to see claims of common design offer any explanatory power for anything.

One less letter and it would be good for anagrams.

Common design is everywhere.

Without it, a cookbook wouldn't mean anything.

How many words exist, using only the 26 letters of the alphabet?

How many atoms on the Periodic Table are there? yet they're all mixed and matched to perfection by a Common Designer.

On the biological level, you have to be very, very careful to give common design respect.

Does Joe need a liver? they'd better find one that closely matches his DNA, or his body will reject it.

Cheetahs don't have that problem; they just mix and match their organs without any problems.

But inbreed depression has them on the brink of extinction.

Common design can be your friend, or it can be your nightmare.

Eh?

How many words exist, using only the 26 letters of the alphabet?

Other languages exist. The Chinese language has 54,678 characters. Many languages have words or phrases that have no English equivalent. Are you saying the "common designer" is American??

How many atoms on the Periodic Table are there? yet they're all mixed and matched to perfection by a Common Designer.

Physics is cool. I mean I guess technically we humans have designed... what, a dozen elements ourselves? So, okay I guess. We are the gods.

Common design can be your friend, or it can be your nightmare.

Common evolutionary history is a much better explanation for all of these and it's actually demonstrable. Common intelligent or intentional design is not. Unless you have something new to show us?

Any assembly worker appreciates common design, and knows it isn't "just a creationist catch phrase."

In fact, when I was in college, there was a term I learned called "the Babel Effect," and the examples given were: Metric vs Imperial; 120v sockets vs 230v sockets; and even naming conventions were discussed (the [Chevy] Nova means "no go" in Spanish).

Some major disasters have occurred because this "creationist catch phrase" was overlooked.

Why are you still talking about human common design? Are you finally coming around to the truth that we humans created god in our image? ;)

Is that what your AV2021 King James (McGraw-Hill) bible says?

You may see common design everywhere but their is little evidence and its predictability is limited. In other words as a theory common design fails. When there are competing theories the one that best fits the evidence and observations and makes the best predictions becomes the accepted theory.

Sounds to me like you're making a case for catastrophism.

That does make sense for how competing theories fight till the their deaths making the remaining theory the champion.

I dont think we had any say regarding the properties of those elements. If we did, we should have made vibranium or some useful isotope of unobtanium.
