If I remember correctly, you have one of the larger aircraft carriers available to the allies early on. Vulnerable, but able to deliver punishment via its aircraft without itself being 'present' in a fight.

this is gonna be fun, as much for the imminent *trash-talk* as for the game-play itself.... wheeeeeeeeee

There's still a downside to bunching up, your enemies might just circumvent you and rake your convoys and other soft targets. I doubt very much that early on the axis could straight-out attack the allies if they were one big fleet though.
