  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you have a comfort food for when you are down, bored, sick, quarantined, and such.

Mine is breakfast food. I know a lot of people it's usually pasta or pizza. Whenever there is a storm coming I've noticed bread is one of the first things to go and the produce is plentiful.

Beer and pizza
I could definitely go for the pizza. I sometimes ask my parents to go on vacation so they can bring their Chihuahua over for me to dog sit. We traditionally have pizza and a movie before they leave. It helps her transition. And she's calm if she smells the pizza all evening.

Even dogs have their comfort foods:D

Sushi is an interesting one. I lived in Japan and like sushi, but not being near the ocean sushi just doesn't taste the same here. I bet where You are you have some great options. Do you have sushi bars wear a conveyor belt goes around in a circle and you get to choose one?

If we're sick I make an immunity chicken soup. It has bone broth, curry, and other elements which boost the immune system.

Otherwise, I'm happiest with a fresh baguette, charcuterie, cheese, and yummy accoutrements (jam, mustard, pickles, etc.). Add a glass of wine and I'm set. I could eat that several times a week.

I'm wild about sushi. I buy it off and on at the store.

My brother also once served fresh salmon by itself, which was delectable. We ate the raw fillets along with ginger to prevent getting any parasites.

That's interesting I never thought of the ginger for parasites. I was always told in Japan that it was to clean the palate.

You always take the best pictures. Did you take this picture? Salmon is one of my favorite fish. As far as sushi I like tuna probably the best with salmon a second. I like sashimi.

That's what I thought, but @Rigatoni is schooling me.

I think it's for both lol. I heard from my brother and other supposedly reliable sources that ginger is meant to kill any potential parasites from the raw fish. I mainly eat it because I love the taste of pickled ginger. :sorry:

Actually it was someone else, but I appreciate the compliment. <3

Tuna is good too, although I prefer the texture and taste of salmon. Sushi rocks in general.

I don't think I've tried sashimi before.

"Supposedly" "reliable" - hmmmm, you're not making a very strong case here.

And yeah, something about ginger makes me sick. Lol. I cook with it in my Chinese dishes, but that's about it.

It's not for everyone that's for sure; it's very potent lol.

I've gotten into making my own beef jerky, which could be considered a comfort food of choice. You can tell I'm a foodie.

The marinade is so tasty - it should be a crime to enjoy it so much. It should be....but isn't. :oncomingpolice:

Oooooo, that looks delicious! Is the marinade spicy?

Toad in the hole with mashed potato and lashings of gravy!
Forgive me, but what is toad in the hole?
