Colour in art

Does anyone know much about what emotion colour shows in art.

e.g.

White-Innocence
Red-Anger/loss of innocence
Black- "darkness" depressed/lonely/lost etc.

Depends on the culture and particular iconography; for instance, the connotations of seeing blue on top of red would be very different in an icon than they would in an ad campaign, or in a piece of artwork from, say, Asia.

When you think about it, any emotion can be shown in any color, though it's interesting to see their traditional meanings.
