Probably because it wasn't supposed to though. Producer changed the inputs on several moves (Cammy's backfist, hooligan rolls, for instance, biggest difference is Zangief no longer needs a 360 motion for SPD), and changed some of the properties of certain moves (chun-li's spinning bird kick arches instead of going straight across, honda can headbutt through fireballs again, etc.). This game changed not just graphically, but gameplay-wise. In a way, kind of dumbed it down, but not so much that it's not strategically deep.

Graphically, it looks good to me, but it definitely doesn't feel like Capcom. But I love both.

I enjoyed the original Super Turbo, but the remixed game is just pure win in my book. I have a blast for it. Now if we can just get the patch that keeps all the connection dropping and health bar bugs, as well as the annoying "Vega start button" glitch fixed. Actually am glad I got a 360 instead of my usual Sony loyalty, as I hear PS3 owners have it worse with the bugs in this game.

Just waiting for Street Fighter IV to come out on console now. No arcades with in a 500 mile radius even have it, so I haven't gotten to play it at all, but have heard nothing but good things.
It's not just the new motions for a small handful of moves... it just, feels different. Maybe it's just a feeling.

I have the PS3 version, but I haven't had any problems at all. Then again, maybe they're all online? I never play online.

I have STIV a few rounds. It's cool... feels like a Street Fighter game with pretty graphics. :D

Yeah, it's pretty much all online. Local matches aren't glitchy at all.

Not going to lie, kind of jealous that you have gotten to play it. But I only got two weeks left.

Don't be. I live in Japan, so I get some things like Street Fighter IV earlier than others... but stuff like GTA, Fallout, Oblivion, sports games, etc., Those games come out here months (or in the case of GTA: San Andreas, about two years!) and then I can't even play them in English. I have to pay to import them from America or Canada in order to play them in my own language.

I'm just trying to make you feel better, but now I'm sad...

Haha, I'll trade you the benefit of grabbing the Japanese games early for the benefit of having the American ones early. I honestly rarely find any must-have American games. Never been big into GTA. Last American game I bought was Halo 3. Before that, probably Guitar Hero. And then probably before that was Tony Hawk Underground. It's especially bad now since I've been on my fighting game kick, Street Fighter IV releases, and I still haven't played it, and American fighting games haven't been relevant since Mortal Kombat 3. Before then, the only temptations to grab early would've been Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy, which is rendered useless by the fact that I know very basic Japanese, and am completely illiterate in the language.

But yeah, being able to get my hands on games like Street Fighter IV, Dissidia, Blazblue, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (which I'll be surprised if it even releases stateside), Arcana Heart 2...that would make my day.

Only two weeks left though for Street Fighter IV. I've waited this long, I can wait that much longer.

And I say, "Thank God!" A lot of the moves were unnecessarily difficult to pull off in the original, in my opinion.

I don't own 360 or PS3, so I just make do with Anniversary Edition on Xbox.

Arcades sang their swan song when they started charging $1 for a single game, in my opinion. And online console gaming was the final nail in the coffin. You'll be very hard-pressed to find arcades anywhere but the most cosmopolitan American cities. And then there's Japan...

As long as holding back blocks, it's all good. One of the things that drives me crazy about Soul Calibur 2 is that holding back does not block, which I keep doing out of habit, and I get pummeled senseless, all the while thinking, "What in the heck am I doing wrong?!?!"

I found an old Super Nintendo console of ours in a storage box this weekend. ^_^ We have a few old games, but not many good ones. There's a slew of games I want to get. The only problem is, there are a lot of DS re-makes that have been, or are being, made, and I don't want to overlap and waste my cash, esp. with the new features in the DS versions.

By the way, does anyone know if there is an S-Video cable hook-up for SNES?

Yes, you can absolutely get an s-video cable for the SNES. You might have to search, but they're out there. Here's a link to a site featuring them (unfortunately, they're out of stock).

Pretty much every console I can think of can use s-video, or at least be modified to do so. Even the Atari 2600 can be modified with an s-video port! It might be a bit pointless, as the hardware can't take advantage of it, but for those crazy enough to do it they can. Thankfully, the SNES doesn't need any special mods done.

OK, I went here, and discovered that the same cable will work with N64 and Gamecube: http://www.racketboy.com/store/snes-svideo-cables.htm
This is interesting, because I already have an s-video cable with multiple plugs for Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube. I may already have the necessary equipment to connect the SNES with s-video. Unfortunately, I don't know where any of the games are right now, so I can't really test it.

Why not drop by a pawn shop or flea market and pick up a few games for next to nothing? You might even find a few gems that you can sell for a good profit! :p

Are we counting handheld consoles?

If so, I actually found, and thus now remember that I have a Game Boy Advance and a Game Gear.

Would like to get a PSP for Final Fantasy Dissidia. And a virtual boy for sheer hilarity.

Has anyone ever owned or played a Wonder Swan, Wonder Swan Color, or Crystal Swan?
I've seen plenty of boxed Wonder Swan and Wonder Swan Colors here for 500yen - 1000yen ($5-$15, depending on the exchange rate on any particular day). They only seem useful for the Final Fantasy I and II remakes, along with a whole bunch of super deformed robot games. They were only released in Japan as far as I know, by Bandai Company.

I've thought of picking one up... but what's the point other than to have it look pretty on a shelf?*

*which is, of course, the exact reason I've pondered picking one up. If I got one... then that would mean I've started actively collecting handhelds. I don't want to get into that yet!

edit: I've got into it now...

Hey, cool!!!

Do you know what the matter is with your two non-working NES systems? Maybe I can give you some ideas how to get them going.

Which system is your favourite?

Blarg, my old roommate sold his Saturn and 3DO before I could grab them.
ARRGGG!!! THE HORROR!!!
No changes in my setup so far. Thinking about getting a Wii soon, and maybe a Gamecube for completist's sake.
You should get a Wii. It's got some pretty cool games, and it also has the Virtual Console. There's also homebrew, which has some pretty cool homemade stuff as well as the option to try out a few of the Virtual Console games before buying them either on the VC or from a used game shop... since renting old games is pretty much impossible.

I'm actually torn between buying one domestic or getting a Japanese one. I'm mainly wanting it for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, and Smash Brothers, but someone told me a nightmare story of how they put Homebrew with GeckoOS on their domestic Wii to run Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and it would no longer read discs afterward. I've scoured the internet and really saw no other cases for it, so maybe it's an isolated issue, and one that's nothing to do with Gecko, but I just know my luck, I would be in that 1%.

Or maybe I should just put a Modchip in a domestic Wii? I don't know if that locks you out of playing online like it does with Xbox 360s though.

Blarg, curse you gaming system developers! US and Japan have the same video formats, enough with the region lockout on discs! Let the gutsy people who are willing to pay $20-30 extra for games they can't read the writing in the menus be able to play them outright without having all this modification hassle!
