  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've got a better idea than fusion.

My concept simply takes ambient heat energy from matter (gas or water or solids). The matter ends up colder than ambient temperature.

Doesn't work. Sorry. Second Law of Thermodynamics.

So, changing the world for the better and helping the poor is not a priority for you? That's too bad.

The development would still take some time and money. Not much actually. I only need to land a 40hr/week job that pays well so I can work on the invention on evenings and entire weekends (except for church).

So right now, my priority is to land such job. Currently, I'm working multiple shifts, including weekends. That leaves me with no time for invention and I still need to make money to make ends meet :)

Exactly right. The link he referenced in post #8 (quoted below) is actually to a legit (quality) physics news site, but reading the article would point out the particular of what you point out in more detail -- that while individual tiny quantum objects may avoid the 2nd law (and increase the entropy outside themselves), that a larger conglomeration thing like a cup of tea cannot.

This is a statistical outcome that approaches total certainty.

Akin to how it never happens that all the atoms of air in a room happen to simultaneously rush to 1/2 of the room, leaving the other half at a vacuum.

While possible in principle, the statistical likelihood tends to zero.

We've seen before when someone thinks they achieved such a wonderful entropy decreasing, 2nd law trashing, energy providing device...it turns out to be using up energy from an outside source, it reliably turns out -- only transferring energy from an outside source which gets used up.

What I don't like about fusion technology is that it is still expensive. The technology involved is expensive. We may have abundant energy with it but the expense is still going to give the poor a hard time. Same thing with expensive solar energy.

I've got a better idea than fusion.

My concept simply takes ambient heat energy from matter (gas or water or solids). The matter ends up colder than ambient temperature.

It uses principles of quantum mechanics to achieve "negative entropy" and using my unique concept to do it at a large scale.

https://phys.org/news/2016-10-quantum-violate-law-thermodynamics.html

It only takes heat from matter like air and by product is simply chilled air.... It is absolutely non-polluting and has the potential to reverse global warming and cause global cooling instead.... The technology would also enable sustained exploration of planet Venus surface since ironically, it is the only cooling method that is fully sustainable and can be fully self-contained in a furnace-hot environment. With the cooling system itself providing the main source of energy.

Eventually, this technology can be used to actively reduce planet Venus surface temperature to pave the way for permanent manned settlement.
