• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I recently gave up alcohol and smoking and very confident I will keep it up. I've noticed that coffee messes with my nervous system and I get anxiety with it and might just quit that too as I don't need it. My treat drink is a coca cola or ginger ale with a nice meal but asides from that it's just water for me.

Congratulations for giving up your vices, and I pray that the power of the Holy Spirit continues to guide you on your path of avoiding addictions. By the way, you could always drink decaf coffee, if you enjoy the flavor of coffee. :)

I recently abstained from coffee for two weeks just to see how it would feel. Mind you, I've been drinking coffee since I had my first real job at 16, and I'm now 52. I get so tired in the middle of the day and was wondering if coffee might be a contributing factor. I think it might be, to some extent, but I still nodded off, per the usual. lol. Still, it seemed like I was less tired? It's hard to say. What I did learn is that I don't really need coffee to wake up in the morning. I usually do stretches and pushups in the morning after coffee. I just moved that to first thing, and I was awake. I ended up breaking my fast with a bag of Fidalgo a friend brought from WA.
