  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Any coffee drinkers out there? At one time the choice was limited, but nowadays there are so many varieties available in coffee bars. I like a decaf Americano (black filter coffee), with a little cold skimmed milk. What's your favourite, and what does it involve in ingredients and processing?

I have developed an aversion to coffee

Perhaps it is the caffeine that my body rejects
But it now causes me to feel nausea and even 'throw up'

I am drinking Lift Lemon Tea and fruit juices

? all those years a serious coffee drinker [ended: in days]

The other day as I was cleaning my house and dusting the china closet, I made a startling discovery. Cup on the right is circa 1800, mug on the left is modern. Are we consuming too much coffee?

Thanks everyone! :)

I don't know if we're drinking too much coffee - hopefully the availability of decaf helps keep the caffeine intake down. With me it's quality rather than quantity. At home I drink more tea or water than coffee, but when out shopping or socialising I love to have a good coffee, and enjoy the variety of choice. I like the idea of an expresso, but they look so small that I always end up getting a larger cup of coffee.:D

El Truckstoppo. I favor Pilot/Flying J* mild coffee, with cream substitute and Splenda. At home, I use either Taster's Choice or Maxwell House coffee. I have a twenty-ounce travel mug, and I may drink two of those in a day. The rest of the day I'll either be drinking ice-water (summer) or black tea (winter).

For you out-of-towners-- by which I mean anybody not in the States-- Pilot and Flying J are truck stops, both chains apparently owned (as far as I can tell) by the same outfit. Forget about the food, they're tied in with the big chain fast-food franchises so unless you really have a hankering for a Big Mac and large fries the food leaves something to be desired. The coffee is not part of the fast-food thing though, so it's surprisingly good.

I'm not sure if Love's Truck Stops are part of the same chain, but I wouldn't be surprised. TA is a separate outfit completely, they have an actual restaurant which isn't bad. Petro is another truck stop with their own restaurants.

Thanks for explaining mjmcmillan - I hadn't heard of Pilot or Flying J. Glad to know they serve good coffee. I found that the States had better coffee than Britain years ago, but I think we've caught up now with the variety and quality on offer.

I love fresh brewed coffee, and luckily my doctor told me to drink all the coffee I want. My favorite ground coffee is Starbucks Breakfast Blend. I'll describe it as pleasant and not overly strong with a great aroma. I buy it at Wal-Mart, so it's reasonably priced and within our budget.

I also get in the mood for hot tea with lemon from time to time. My wife has hot tea every day - just plain old-fashioned Lipton tea bags. I've never tried iced coffee, so I just might have to satisfy my curiosity about that some day.

At home I like Dunkin Donuts brand, but every great once in a while I indulge in a coconut mocha frappacino from Starbucks. Unfortunately, coconut is a seasonal flavor and I guess last Sunday ended coconut season. :(
The guy at the drive thru gave me the small amount of toasted coconut they had left from the day. I think he felt sorry for me. :)

We are confirmed coffee lovers!! We start the day with 2 cups of fresh ground coffee and after that it is usually Dowe Egberts or Kenco decaf or I wouldn't sleep at all. We are also great fans of Starbucks and find the cards very useful when travelling in the USA :)
