What type of coating? I had no idea they did that.
It's kind of like a varnish, very thin coat. They also do that with tin (steel) cans, and have been for a long time.

Not sure what type but I saw it on a show on tv made perhaps 10 years ago something like Factory Made I think was the name it was on local tv channel Quest and it showed how they made aluminum water bottles and they spray a coating on the inside of it. I just looked up and the coating is BPA on Coke cans but they say other cans have expoxy resins and polymer plastics etc. One article claimed they have been coating aluminum cans since the 1950s.

The best things that we could do over the next ten years, is reduce livestock populations (I even said this when I managed cattle), get RID of plastic, stop fishing (there's basically no fish left now) and invest in marine phytoplankton and extract our proteins and fatty acids that way.

Not just for the planet, but for us too. Otherwise we're just going to keep polluting the place and spreading viruses around.

^ That's an opinion, just an opinion for what it's worth. Personally, I think God's voice has never been louder and more succinct.
I agree about getting rid of plastic, or at least most of it. And factory fishing has to go. But raising beef in low density without feedlots and just grass fed can be good for the land. Grass fed beef can be healthier too. Or Bison. It's the feedlots and the corn used for feed that aren't helping out the environment. Those need to go. But not grass fed range living herds in a sane population density. IMHO of course.

I wonder why nanoclay bottles aren't more popular, considering they're strong like glass, and bendable, like plastic.

...My understanding is that nanoclay is both biodegradable and antimicrobial.

They would have to put some happy labels on them,
to make them look more attractive.

They look pretty drab in the picture.

Yeah. Those in the picture are tinted because they're made for beer, and sunlight effects the flavor, which is why beer bottles are usually dark brown or sometimes dark green (which still sometimes gives a bad 'skunky' flavor)... But the material itself is typically produced clear like glass.

plastic has its uses, we just need to use plastic that is recyclable and encourage it more.
A lot of fuel is saved by using plastic in everything making it considerably lighter and more of the savings should be put to use reclaiming plastic before it hits the landfills or make plastic that you can add a harmless chemical to it in landfills to break it down into a biodegradeble mass.

I noticed paragraph 6 of your link... It says: "Chemically speaking, yes, margarine is almost plastic because it has all of the same molecules as plastic, except for one."
Just remember H20 is only one atom from hydrogen peroxide.

My car has tires and a steering wheel and countless other resemblances to a Porsche.

Also in the article:
Basic knowledge of molecular compounds and bonds disproves the claim that margarine is almost plastic.

It's true that water is almost hydrogen peroxide.

I don't know what "very few" is, or what motivates companies to work in positive ways outside of normal business as usual, but as far as money donated, it's in the hundreds of billions every year.

In 2017, donations to charity reached an all time high in the US, with an estimated $410 billion investments towards philanthropic efforts.

10 of the companies that give the most to charity in the US

I think it would be more meaningful to know how much % of profit was given...

They are not forced to give anything.

The lowest level of charity is to give begrudgingly.
