Howdy fellow climbers,

It wasn't until I was in college that a friend introduced me to rock climbing, and I was hooked! I climbed regularly and locally (so. cal) for about the next 4 years. Climbing can sharpen your senses and teach you things about yourself you never knew. I've since gotten married, career, kids, etc., and I haven't climbed much since. However, I am backpacking in Yosemite this weekend and plan on taking my shoes and doing some bouldering. I would encourage anyone who has opportunity to try rock climbing.

Peace

Yep. I climb, and I’m crazy about rafting, though, most outdoor sports, really. I’m a Christian, as are most of my friends, but I know what you mean, at least when it comes to the people I meet rafting. Great folks, but not necessarily all Christians. Just know when it comes to climbing or anything with a buddy system, all you need is a good climber on belay, and know that God’s got your 6 as well.

Good climbin’!!!!
peace,

This is essentially the same question as the other thread, but I'll answer it too.

Yeah, I like the climbing. It's good stuff. As far as your asertion that most climbers are non-Christian, this is probably true in relation to the general population, but I'd say there's definitely a healthy portion of climbers that are. My old school I used to attend certainly had a sizeable amount though it was a somewhat inherently conservative school.

I climb too. Any yes, it does seem to me that there are not very many Christian climbers. I climb in California at Joshua Tree and Idyllwild as well as some other less-known sites. Having a Christian partner is not so important until you get to the campsite at night. That's when I feel alone. Their conversations and the drinking is not the best environment.
