  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Climate change 'hitting harder and sooner' than forecast, warn scientists ahead of UN meeting.

The data, compiled by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), says climate change is accelerating, with sea-levels rising, carbon dioxide levels increasing and ice sheets melting faster than ever before.

It highlighted that global temperatures have risen by 1.1 degrees Celsius since 1850, and have gone up 0.2 C between 2011 and 2015.

Sea levels have been rising by an average of 5 millimeters a year in the past five years, compared to 3.2 mm a year on average since 1993, with much of the rise attributed to melting glaciers and ice sheets.

The report flagged that Arctic summer sea ice has declined at a rate of 12 per cent per decade over the past 40 years, with the four lowest values between 2015 and 2019.

The amount of ice lost from the Antarctic ice sheet increased by a factor of six each year between 1979 and 2017, while glacier loss for 2015-19 is also the highest for any five-year period on record.

My eyes popped out of their sockets reading that.
I keep up to date with climate change information and the level of global climate change is accelerating.

It is scary news these days but is going to get much worse as we progress. We have already locked in a three or four degree change in the future with our past emissions.

If the governments continue to disregard deep and effective changes to CO2 emissions. The future climate will rise higher than a few degrees.

I pray this means that Jesus will return soon, but I am skeptical.
With the global decline of Christianity, peoples love growing cold, and the climate starting to change rapidly. I don't think we have too much longer to wait.

Interesting article. It's alarming and also I think we're maybe just now seeing the effects of global warming perhaps.

An alarming article and it will be interesting to see how the governments react to this news.

I'll have to reinforce my roof to falling-sky grade.
Get to work on your roof because you don't have a lot of time to reinforce your roof. May I suggest a steel roof as you may need some protection from larger hailstones.

L and then O and then another L.

Yep, this whole climate change fakeness is just about controlling people taking away freedom. The thing that should be alarming is that people are happily giving their freedom away to stupid stuff like this. Someday those people will happily give up the US Constitution because of this silliness

And, honestly, we can get rid of every plastic straw and bottle in the U.S. and it will have absolutely no effect on anything other than inconveniencing our citizens.

That is how the governments around the world have been treating climate change. They just ignore it and introduce slight changes to reduce CO2 emissions.

The world governments are in denial and I don't blame them for that. Reducing CO2 emissions on a large scale will drastically harm the economies of many countries.

You are not alone in your denial of the scientific news on climate change.

Ever seen the movie "Idiocracy"?
