Does that matter? I take exception to many things people say on here, but my doing so is never used by any of them as a basis for guiding their experience, thoughts, feelings, or resulting self-expression.Sweetie, truly, did you not think people may take exception to what you said? Realistically.
This is a circular discussionDoes that matter? I take exception to many things people say on here, but my doing so is never used by any of them as a basis for guiding their experience, thoughts, feelings, or resulting self-expression.
Nor do I expect it to be -- nor should it be.
We have clear rules to deal with when people are not being civil -- and that is enough. We do not have rules to enforce conformity -- nor do I desire to see such rules made even if they were made in a way that served my predilections.
Who made a false statement? To say a sonet to satan is beautiful is indeed promotional imho. For you to be allowed to promote such thought certainly would not have been allowed prior to 7/7.Making false and inflammatory accusations against another is by definition and in its intrinsic nature, uncivil, even if it is done in the softest tone possible.
Finger pointing, slander, and mischaracterisation are never civil.
Be well GM.
Well, its an opinion. We are still allowed to have opinions. I would think that a good thing.
Promoting is a loaded word used to use against whatever someones opinion is one doesn't seem to like, in My Opinion.
"Promotion" is not permitted as far as I'm aware. However, "promotion" involves such concepts as recruiting, proselytizing, advocating, etc. Not merely reporting an opinion. An opinion is a fluid thing, like art. I think you and I are just too different from one another for you to truly grasp me, is what it comes down to. Trust me -- if I wanted to "promote" anything, I am well and truly capable of doing so -- effectively and convincingly. Sharing an opinion doesn't qualify here. I am pleased, however, to see you qualify your statement with "IMHO". IMHO, that is precisely what is needed. You OPINE that it constitutes promoting. And I'm telling you factually, it doesn't.Who made a false statement? To say a sonet to satan is beautiful is indeed promotional imho. For you to be allowed to promote such thought certainly would not have been allowed prior to 7/7.
I would love to see an explanation as to why it is allowed now.
I completely share, and second, both your opinions there, HD.Well, its an opinion. We are still allowed to have opinions. I would think that a good thing.

You were told to stop running those Got Satan? commercials, eh?
And that's my point, really. I find Erwin's ruling eminently reasonable for a CHRISTIAN site -- "don't promote Satanism". Makes sense from a Christian standpoint, fits in with the mission and goals of his site. Erwin did NOT rule, "never speak a single solitary word, not even the slightest hairsbreadth of a thought or feeling or idea or opinion, that even remotely runs the risk of SEEMING "Satanic" to someone else". If he had ruled thus, this entire forum would have had to shut down, because if you've checked the theology, debate, or congregational sections lately, Christians themselves are quite fond of invective which labels even Biblically-derived concepts themselves as "satanic" and "deception" for no greater reason than that they simply disagree with either the statement being made or the continued existence of the person making it.Seems that once the "promotion" word was codified, it became the buzzword of the moment.
Not to me it isn't!The picture is a melding of Pinhead and Uncle Sam in the classic "I want you!" pose.
Oh well...sometimes my sense of humor can be off...
foul ball, Dr.steve.Ya want to do a duet to the Devil, then?
We can call it our opinion.

You are wise on this. Erwin too. Good thing he has a level head.I am certain whatever Erwin intended by ruling against the "promotion of Satanism", it was NOT to provide domineering control-freak types with ammunition to force cookie-cutter-clone conformity in THEIR own image onto everyone else who joins this site.
Not to me it isn't!I sooooo need to have a copy of that now. Got a PDF or somesuch?
Actually, I've never read one, so Have no opinion as of yet.foul ball, Dr.steve.
HD does NOT share my opinion on sonnets for Satan.
She is vehemently against that kind of thing.
Imagining offense is offered where none has been is a very typical human error though. And it is not fair to force another to bear the weight of what one chooses to eisegete in the face of all clarification to the contrary.I think the statement that we need to nail it down may be correct. We are operating on 5 Christian principles, not other religions therefore anything that glorifies or lifts up anything that is not Christian is promotion in my opinion. There is a difference between promotion and honest debate but there are certain areas set aside for that. ZIt shouldnt be in your face type thing.
