So onward go the minutemen. With a few minor mistakes I say a job well done.:preach:

So now we have armed angry americans guarding the boarder. What are they going to do, shoot anyone who comes across the boarder?

This is starting to look like an international incedent waiting to happen.

They done good.

When are people going to learn?
Armed doesn't mean violent. Just because a person carries a firearm, doesn't mean they want to shoot someone.

Drug dealers, desperate illegal aliens, and possibly terrorists could be coming across our borders. They don't want someone turning them into Immigration.
They might decide to shoot at the watchers. Unarmed they are dead or in danger.
These people don't want to confront anyone. Butthey want to stop illegal immigration.

no no no, silly... they just report them.... of course that makes you wonder why they need pistols strapped to their hips as though they were John Waynes.....apparently they just "see, report and stay clear of"... at least, that is what I have been told... I hope that is the way that it remains.

Nothing has happened yet. In fact there has already been benefits from the citizen patrol. 18 were deported from reports yesterday:thumbsup:

All they do is watch for people crossing where they shouldn't cross and call the border patrol. Some have guns in case they are attacked.

It's much more likely that one of the "minutemen" will get shot. They just have pistols. Immigrant smugglers are professionals, and are much better armed.

If that is all there doing, great. Just as long as they stop causing the boarder patrol problems by tripping the senseres, which seam to be doing the same thing....

Last time I checked, being heavily armed in the United States is not a crime. Except in certain places like Washington D.C>

As for the whole guns thing, what's the problem with people exercising their 1st and 2nd Amendment rights? :)

I have no problem with them owning guns, if they know how to use them and WHEN to use them. I am just afraid that there will be some yahoo that will deside to shoot every illegal that crosses the boarder.

I know most gun owners are more responsible then that, but not all of them are.

What about their 1st Amendment rights?

If one shoots a criminal in Arizon could a case be made that the individual is defending the state?

Oh an for the record, I'd rather have that yahoo that decides to shoot every Mexican crossing the border near me with an AK-47 than a noted gun control advocate like say, Diana Feinstein.

It could be that the threat of this could be the catalyst needed to force the government into providing increased State-trained and authorised effective patrols. The threat of one yahoo shooting everything that moves should turn more heads than the threat of thousands of illegals getting through every month.

Very important point.

The 2nd amendment says: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

In the old days they had deputies who helped the sheriff...... maybe this caould be a good thing......??
Kind of like 'If you can't beat 'em, recruit 'em?
It might be a good idea. If the minutemen were given official training, recognition, authority and operating parameters then it would clear up a lot of the grey areas concerning their actions, plus providing a cheap, dedicated volunteer force to strengthen border integrity. The question is would many wish to remain serving in an official capacity?

Substitute 'armed' with 'legally possessing', 'angry' with 'concerned and patriotic' and 'guarding' with 'surveilling', and you will have gotten it exactly right.
