If this is OK... then I guess it is OK to rent the church space to an adult photography company to manufacture porn. It's either of God (as in Jehovah) or it is of the World and the two don't mix. --- Matthew 6:24 "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

As Christians we are called to be neighborly and show the love of Christ. But have false worship in
sanctity of your place of worship is very wrong.
What relationship does dark have with light the fact
so called Pastors (leaders) are blinded by political correctness of this world is appalling.
Let me clear if these people are in need or in trouble and need help that is fine short of corrupting a Christian place of worship. This is the same as Baal worship in your temple.
When they let Christians walk in Mecca talk to me about this then.

I must say, this seems to be the most well-reasoned response so far. It's also biblical, which is more important.

It's a building. Bricks and mortar. If you (general you) are concerned about their mere presence and worship in a building your faith has some major hurdles to go through...

Would you ever draw a line on that kind of reasoning?

How about we review the history of non-believers setting up in a temple of God and see what the scriptures have to say about it. Hmm. Can anyone think of an example?

...and you'd have a point if a Christians "temple" was a building.

On the contrary faith in Christ shows there is not much faith is one cant see the problem.

Now if a church has received from God a reason why to do this then I say ok if its going to bring some fruit, but I don’t mean humanistic ideas of worldly peace and harmony, I mean fruit of the Kingdom of God.

But remember Jesus overturned tables in the temple courtyard of those who were selling livestock and changing money (note they weren’t selling copies of the Torah and Jewish teachings) Remember Paul in Acts 17 pointing out that whilst God doesn’t live in temples built by human hands, what they were worshipping was false and in one case they didn’t even know what they were worshipping.

Sure offer the church to groups, but not for worship to other gods.

And your thought goes too far. Do you mean to say that symbols have no meaning to people? If places of worship have no value, why did Jesus become so angry when that place was desecrated (Mark 11)? Yes, the verse you quoted has a purpose. But we cannot pick and choose. Theology must be consistent with all scripture. So, explain your verse from 1 Corinthians along with Mark 11, and (what I am most interested to hear opinions on) Matthew 24:15 & ff.

And again, if they were renting out space in the Temple in Jerusalem during the days before Jesus died and rose again your point would be valid. But in this day and age, Gods Temple here on Earth isn't a brick and mortar building. It's us.

I sense that we have a different "end times" view that is driving a different interpretation here. But I don't want to head down that path.

So, I'm going to back up and repeat my previous question. Do you draw a line regarding what behavior you will accept on property you own?

That's good, I pretty much don't have any "end Times" views except "Love God, serve those around you."

I've never really thought about it. (Having never owned property) Who would I (or wouldn't I) rent to? I'm thinking the "ick factor" would be where I'd draw the line. Would I feel icky if I rented property to this group?
tulc(would love to rent to a coffee shop/bookstore!) :D

Hmm. Not much of a guideline. Maybe this isn't going anywhere.
