Hello all,
So I have here a 2012 Macbook Retina Pro laptop. Well I installed ChromeOS Flex on it which gives me the latest ChromeOS on my macbook pro. I love this system. Everything works right out of the box (OOBE). And my printer is compatible too. I was wondering if any of you have heard of Chrome OS and/or ChromeOS Flex and if you have tried it either in a virtual machine or on a computer?

The school I used to manage computers for used Chromebooks. In terms of a light-weight OS for basic tasks, it's fine. I hated trying to use it, but I can understand it's place.

Lots of tasks from a wider viewpoint (such as network printer management) were a lot more painful, and as the school was pushed by diocese and a new principal I briefly worked under, a lot of teachers were starting to find that a lot of content they wanted to use was not appropriate for it (despite the principal's insistence that "engineers use Chromebooks").

They're good for a quick-and-easy device with decent battery that you can do web tasks on, but they definitely aren't as much as full replacement for a regular OS as a lot of marketing would like you to believe.

@Wookiee ,
Its true. My dell chromebook sucks bad. Hence why I put the ChromeOS Flex on my macbook. I have a 1TB hard drive in the mac so it provides me lost of room for use of Linux hardware/applications. Over all it is a great system and the updates are reliable and often. You should try it sometime!

Yeahhh, it definitely isn't for me. I don't have much time anymore for screwing around with different OS's that don't pertain to my job, and if I was going to make an actual switch to something, it'd be some form of Debian.

I use my personal computer for WFH and games. Even if gaming wasn't a factor, I really can't afford to waste time with these sorts of experiments when I just need it to run the specific software I need to.
