  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Christmas tree thread

You know...I used to do that for a living, as a manicurist (nail sculpturist). Do airbrushng and painting (by hand) various murals on womens nails way back.

Weird I suppose, but sorta fun (and challenging) to work out small details on such a tiny surface. You'd get some real crazy (far out requests) thats for sure.

Yeah, I've seen some amazing things on women's fingernails.

Did you know that in China it is popular for men, as well as women, to have long fingernails? It is a sign that one is not a common laborer. They also dye their fingernails an orange-red.

Thats weird, I couldnt imagine being married to a man with long orange fingernails (no thanks) lol

Its really weird what crosses your mind looking at these. You simply cant help but ask yourself how she does certain things (you'd typically not ask yourself) of someone else.

Heres a big tree

Those fingernails are really creepy. Made me wonder what she could use her fingers for, if anything.

I loved the huge tree and tiny car.

Nice! Did you know that you can actually purchase the tree? There are several websites that offer it for sale.

Thanks for the information.

I just couldn't resist hunting the picture up; I've been a fan of Peanuts for years. :)

I am, as well. I find it funny that there are some people here at CF that would find a tree like this to be idolatrous. However, take the ornament off and presto-bingo it ceases to be an idol.

Yes, I see what you mean; I have been halfway following a couple of discussions here on CF on this very issue (even though I haven't said anything). Actually, I can respect someone who has a personal conviction not to have them - that is, as long as it is viewed merely as a personal conviction/choice, and nothing more than that. I think this is just one of those disputable issues (or "doubtful things") that Romans 14:1 speaks of.

Yes, one of the ironies here is that I personally don't put one up, not because I have the slightest religious objection, but simply because I don't entertain at home at Christmas. I enjoy the Christmas decorations of others even as I enjoy decorations in general. I definitely see this as an issue of Christian liberty of conscience.

Much like one refuses to eat pork products because of health issues and not because of the law of Moses per Leviticus?

I am absolutely certain that bacon is a God given health inducing food that no serious Christian could possibly object to on the grounds of heath! :p:p:p

We keep a strategic bacon reserve at work so as to be certain never to run out. Bacon has this miraculous capacity to turn vegetables into food. Clearly it enjoys a special blessing from heaven.

Amen.
