  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I want to give my sister the most rock'n'ist Christmas present this year. I don't live with her any more since our parents split, so I have no clue as what to get this girl, by the way she is 14. I'm going to spend three days with her next week. I figure I might let her skip a day of school and both of us go present shopping for our family, but I want to make her present a surprise. :help:

Any ideas for the present or insights into the her mind would be helpful. Thanks.

#1 Don't encourage her to skip a day of school. Do the shopping in the evening or on a weekend.

#2 It sounds as if you love your sister tons! What are her interests? Is there something that you two could do together that you can't normally do? Perhaps taking her to a concert to see her favourite band?

Merry Christmas Blake! Your heart is in the right place.

Of course, I won't let my sister skip a final or anything extremely important for school. But, I don't see anything wrong with her missing one day of school, its a rare occasion.

I was thinking about taking her to a movie on the day we go shopping and probably out to eat. I suppose I'll have to probe "inadvertently" at her to find something she'd really like to have, I hope I won't be to obvious. Thanks for the response.
