I know the Christmas season is almost over, but I'm hoping to get a Christmas cantata for next year on clearance this year :) Did anyone have a cantata or musical they used this year and absolutely loved? I'm looking for recommendations so I can order this within the next month or so at a great price. Thanks in advance.

There's a few Christmas ones here www.cmm.org.uk I'm slightly biased as I used to work for them lol! But there is some good musicals, Christmas ones are Away In A Manger, While Shepherds Watched, Simeon and Stargazers. They're in the UK but you can order from overseas. Hope this helps...

We had a cantata at our church...we didn't really do a Christmas cantata though. Instead we covered the entire life of Christ from prophecy of birth to second coming and reign. For the most part, the choirs that participated wanted to try new songs, so we ended up not using most of the traditional songs for some sections. One song I love in particular is "Who Would Imagine A King". It was originally done in the Preacher's Wife movie. To obtain the best effect for this song one should use a femaile child to sing it - very powerful. For the birth section I think we did Emmanuel, O Come Let Us Adore Him, and 1 or 2 more traditionals, but that was about it for that section. The other sections warranted songs that fell in with those themes (i.e. Death and Suffering, Priesthood, Life and Ministry, Childhood of Christ, etc.)
