Fortune cookies are definitely not meant to be serious, and are not Chinese in origin anyways. If one is tempted by them or feels guilt by them for some reason one could simply request not to be given them or just leave them in their plastic and not eat them.

Christian's shouldn't eat Chinese food because fortune cookies contain eastern mysticism.

Is this supposed to be a serious comment?

What if they change the name of 'fortune cookie' to "Providence cookies" and put a Bible verse in there instead?

I will say I learned to teach my youngest the difference between 'luck' which does not exist and the Providence of God eating a fortune cookie.

fortune cookies contain eastern mysticism.
The ones I have seen seem pretty modern to me. And I simply do not believe they can tell me anything or control anything that will happen in my life. But I see a point > ones can consult psychics and boards and cards in order to find out things in their lives. So, in case a person were to use fortune cookies like this, this I would not recommend.

In any case, it is wise not to be only concerned about my own life and getting what I want. So, in case my main interest in a fortune cookie is to find out or to get what is only or mainly about me myself and I . . . well, it is also wrong to use prayer like this, isn't it?

So, even if someone does not use fortune cookies, it is possible for him or her to be too much only about how things are going for his or her own self.

one could simply request not to be given them or just leave them in their plastic and not eat them.

I eat em; I don't read em.
And I understand that you do not eat the paper with the message.

And ones might need to be more concerned about if they need to be eating the sugary stuff. I can see one message > "You need to read me, first, and not eat the sugary cookie."

Before I was a Christian I used to think that the way to make your "fortune" come true was to eat the little piece of paper.

I made up so many weird things back then. Pretty embarrassing

It's been 30 years since I've seen a fortune cookie in a Chinese restaurant.

And there was never any "eastern mysticism" involved.
