Hello Christians: do you have a fear of death? If so, how do you deal with it? If not, why do you suppose you don't have a fear of death?

When I started my Christian walk years ago, the beginning point of my faith was catalyzed by a "Fear of Death," (but not of Hell.) It was my aversion to the prospect of 'non-existence' that pushed me toward Christ. But, it was the beauty of Jesus that compelled me to step over the edge into the baptized life, however imperfectly I may have stepped.

Now, years later, my faith is maintained not by fear of death, but by the Fear of God and the Beauty of Christ.

Can you elaborate on your fear of God? Are you fearful that he may do something which you find unfavorable or unpleasant? Are you fearful that he may not be what you think him to be?

Sure.

By 'Fear of God' I mean that I now fully realize the Holy and Magnificent nature of God, that He alone is God, Sovereign and Just, and entitled as Creator and Ruler to Judge the people of the world. With this in mind, I realize that I too come under the ongoing gaze of Our Potentate Most High.

Like Paul (alluding to Philippians), I do not consider myself to have already 'obtained' salvation in Christ, and I am therefore cautioned to strive to walk circumspectly.

As to your second question: no, I am not afraid to find that He is 'other' than what I think Him to be (No Flying Spaghetti Monster is He); I'm confident He is what He says He is in His Word.

I hope I was clear enough.

I do not have a fear of dying. That is not to say that I am suicidal, or in any way wish to end my life experience.

I have came extremely close to death twice and both times found no fear and nothing to fear. One time, it was a homecoming celebration that I was then ubruptly turned away from.

I thank God for every moment of my life and when my time here is done... I only pray that I am given time to say good bye
