No, it is because God had never settle down with them.
Revelation 21:2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
Exodus 33:3 Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.”Psalms 95 does not say no one has entered God's rest.
It says that the wicked did not enter.
The text contrasts the saints in David's day with the wicked who tried God for 40 years. The wicked were rejected but the saints are given that same offer of salvation "today" -- right then in Ps 95. Not "some future day when the 2nd coming happens" but "Today".
And that offer of "Today" in Ps 95 did not delete the Sabbath and did not claim that Moses did not enter God's rest.
Oh, it is true that some claim that all Christians are commanded by God to keep the seventh day holy. Some claim that all christians are commanded by God to keep the seventh day holy. That is not true.
We cannot be picking out the things that we like or can do, from the things that we cannot do. Jesus had told a Rich man that claimed that he has followed all the commands of Moses and has acknowledged whom Jesus is. But once Jesus has told him to get rid of all of his wealth to give to the poor. The Rich man basically rolled his eyes at Jesus and then the Rich man left.
And Adam and Eve had sinned just only one time. From other scriptures, that they had begged for the rest of their lives for forgiveness. They even had thought that if they stand in a flowing river that flows high up to their ears, for days, that the waters will wash away the filth from them.
Oh, it is true that some claim that all Christians are commanded by God to keep the seventh day holy.
In fact, Christians are commanded by Jesus in the NEW TESTAMENT to be Perfect,
the same as YHWH commanded in the TORAH for His People to be HOLY.
(yes, even thousand years or however long BEFORE CHRIST WAS BORN.
None-the-less,
When I first thought of quoting the title of the thread,
" Christians are not commanded to observe the seventh day. "
my question was this : Are Christians commanded to do anything ? Anything at all ?
Yes----
Tit_1:14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
1Jn_2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jn_2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jn_3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1Jn_3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1Jn_5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn_5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
2Jn_1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
Rev_12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev_14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Rev_22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Mat 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Mat 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Mat 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
Mat 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Mat 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
It did no good for him to keep all the commandments, for his heart was still with his money.
Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Mat 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Loving God and our fellow man is what obeying the law is all about-"on these 2 HANG ALL THE LAW"
You do it out of love for God and man not to be saved. It's an automatic response of law, to do what makes those we love happy. That's why He has written them in our hearts now---but no matter where they are written, they are still written to be obeyed.
Why do people fight so against this one commandment, and not the others?? Is it because of inconvenience??? If so, it is being disregarded out of love for self, and not out of love for God. Love leads to respect for God and what He says, not to disregarding not respecting what He says.
Sacrifice was made on Shabbat too. The feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) will be kept in the Melenium and beyond Zechariah 14. Yeshua told us to keep Passover in remenberence of Him. Yom Kippur was the one with sin sacrifice but it was for unintentional sin. God has always desired the fruits of repentance for intentional sin. The Sabbath is part of the Moed and cast a shadow that points to the millennial rein. The other Moed cast shadows that point to things yet to come Passover pointed to the suffering servant dying for our transgressions. Shavuot pointed to Pentecost. We have other moedim that will be fullfilled during His second comming. Yom Teruah (trumpets sounding the warning) Yom Kippur, Sukkot and the 8th day have not yet been fullfilled. Just as the weekly Sabbath is important so are His other Moedim.A few people don't know that those annual Sabbaths were rooted in animal sacrifices and offerings which Hebrews 10 states - are ended at the cross.
But almost everyone knows that the weekly Sabbath - commandment states in Ex 20:11 that the Genesis 1-2:3 pre-fall-of-man action of God "alone" establishes the weekly Sabbath as binding upon all mankind.
It is the weekly Sabbath of the TEN Commandments that is kept inside the ark and written on stone - not the other sabbaths -- the "Shadow Sabbaths".
Thus in Isaiah 66:23 for all eternity "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to worship"
