Where do they go? Heaven or Hell?? Is one sin more damning than another?? Isn't all sin bad regardless of how we 'rank' it in our society?

QuantaCura said:Objectively speaking, if someone commits suicide with full knowledge and conscious consent, then they will go to Hell. In essence, they have decided to longer put their trust in God and have despaired instead. That being said, we cannot know that. I would imagine most people that commit suicide have some sort of depression or chemical imbalance which would mitigate culpability.
As for sin, it's all bad, but some are worse than others. Some will cost you your salvation if you die unrepentant (sins unto death mentioned in 1 John 5) and some will not (sins not unto death).
Lisa0315 said:I strongly disagree, and so did Pope JPII who signed the Lutheran agreement stating that salvation is received via the atonement of Christ and not by the works of men.
Aras said:But 1 John 5 didn't give any specific Sins, how do we know which ones are condemning?
QuantaCura said:That was on justification, not salvation. John Paul II promulgated the catechism that specifically says those who die in a state of unrepented mortal sin go to Hell.

So Christ didn't REALLY mean he forgives the believer of ALL sins past and present? That he throws them as far as the east is to the west?? I think I would tend to agree with seekingpurity with the fact that they go to heaven but it will count against their eternal rewards. One does not know the mind of a person that commits suicide..they could have been possessed by a demon.northstar said:I do not believe once saved always saved.
Hope that is enough of an answer for the OP...
