Some of the preppers here may find this interesting. Google "Augason Farms Emergency Food." They also sell things such as water storage and the like.
I think I'm going to start buying one of these @ ~$85 (overstock DOT com) every other month.

Creamy Chicken Rice (30 servings)
Hearty Vegetable Blend (30 servings)
Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal (40 servings)
Morning Moos Low Fat Milk Alternative (80 servings)
Not sure how the price stands up to other sources, but it seems like it would be a good way for someone getting long term food storage without having to deal with mylar and oxygen absorbers. Basically, I'll be paying for convenience.
Water being the primary need I will start with that.
Just got my water bill today. Used 700 cubic feet of water. May 10th - June 9th
We used 5236 gallons of water last month. How do I deal with this volume?
Not using flush toilets would be a start.
PS we have 2 rain barrels (35 gallons each) for our garden. Yet they don't last long if it doesn't rain.
One thing I stock heavy is rice, I have vacum sealed about 100 pounds of it, may get tired of it but it will feed you for a long time and others as well.

Hey Dids, I was watching the Jim Bakker show with my aunt and they sell prep food. I was considering the monthly brick which I think is affordable (with shipping, $70.00 a month). What do you think about that particular item? There are a whole bunch of other products also. The wife has been dehydrating vegetables like a mad woman. Green peppers, hot green peppers, squash, zucchini, peaches....
These are not really for prepping use so we are not bagging them.
I have been stacking 5 gallon buckets of rice, beans, potatoes, sugar, and corn. We put them all in one room with a small 5000 btu air conditioner set at 70 degrees. Got to keep these cool. If they sit in the 90 degree heat for a couple summers, the quality will degrade fast.
Today there are hundreds of thousands of Christians who are "prepping" for an uncertain future. I suspect there are actually millions. One poll states there are over 3 million preppers in the USA. I would suggest that the majority of these are Christians.
I want to suggest CF establish a forum for Christian preppers. Not "doomsday" preppers because as believers we know that there is not going to be a doomsday as such. We know Jesus is going to return, set up His glorious kingdom... and we rejoice! But we also know that as that wonderful day approaches, there will be much trouble and tribulation; both man made and natural.
I believe a Christian Prepper forum would be positive and helpful to those believers who are in prepper mode. It would also serve to help convince other believers to begin prepping for that uncertain future.
