Isn't it kinda silly to ask folks who haven't trusted in Christ whether something is Christlike?
Seeing as it is most often those who do not represent Christ that are the objective ones in judging things, no, I do not believe it is silly. I think it better represents how things are perceived. Thanks for your concern.

That's just it. If you don't know Christ, how are you gonna judge what is Christlike?

Folks can be objective as they like. But if you don't know Christ, there is no frame of reference, at least from a discernment perspective, of what Christlike is.

Now we all know that the reason for this thread( or the reason that will be perceived) is that there are a lot of homosexuals and the people who don't see anything wrong with homosexual sex or who don't like the fact that it is preached that God's word calls homosexual sex a sin in this forum.:) And that's not to say that you are one of the aforementioned.

But I will sit back and wait to see how many are gonna cosign because they are offended that God's word is preached. :)

Immoral? No.
Annoying? Yes.
Annoying, interesting you should mention that word. In that it is annoying, does it make you more or less likely to view the person perpetrating such 'annoying' postage as credible? Part of Christian beliefs is what Paul wrote, and Paul wrote that 'so far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone'. Do you feel that the annoying posts in question live up to this mandate?

Why, with their knowlege of the Bible, of course. You don't think they actually come to a Christian forum without knowing anything about it, do you?

It matters not if you know him, it matters if you know what Christ was like, thus, Christlike. What Christ was like is written in the Gospels, no?

Do we? That is not the purpose of the original post, or my intent. I, as a break before I jump back into things, am wondering how I can best reach my audience. After all, I have chatted about my beliefs quite thoroughly and I believe that I can add something new to the mix.

But I will sit back and wait to see how may are gonna cosign because they are offended that God's word is preached. :)
Probably not many, as that is not the question I would like answered. I simply want to know how ethical they think the methods being pursued in this forum are.

The only one perceiving that is you, Zaac, the OP was very clear in what it's asking and it has very little to do with a specific issue and a lot to do with methodology.

Whilst I appreciate the support, why the bluntness? I'm sure he has good reason for his post, having 7000 posts to his name.

Zaac here seems to think that the way to reach people is to preach at them, that's why. Rather than listening or loving.

Well, please keep your disagreement out of my thread. I am trying to get answers from unbelievers, not believers.

I'm sure that they have some idea of how they THINK Christians are supposed to act or be. But I can tell ya from past experience, that it is very rare that a nonChristian has a correct idea about who we are supposed to be in Christ. Especially when, as is the case in this forum, there are so many Christians teaching false doctrines that affirm that which God calls sin.

It matters not if you know him, it matters if you know what Christ was like, thus, Christlike. What Christ was like is written in the Gospels, no?

Yes. But can they really understand what is written without the Holy Spirit?

By not having to follow it or take grief from us; however, they are more apt to view things more logically and objectively. For example, earlier in this thread somebody made a comment about humility: we know Christ was humble, so their statement is spot-on.

Please do not bring any disagreements into my thread.

Yes. But can they really understand what is written without the Holy Spirit?
Probably not as well as those of us who study it most of our lives, but they can understand the general gist of what it's saying.

I appreciate it. I will be praying for you as well.

You could take a poll, but I'm betting a majority of the non-believers used to be Christians. What I knew about Christ while I was a Christian didn't suddenly get erased from my brain when I deconverted. And while I was a Christian I didn't feel as though I had any secret knowledge that unbelievers couldn't have as well.

Now, I've known a lot of Christians who say they talk to God, and God has given them information that's extra biblical. I recently had a Christian say that God specifically told him that Obama was the antichrist. When I mentioned that I thought the Bible said you weren't supposed to add to or take away from what's in the Bible, he said that only applied to man or demon inspired messages, not to direct revelations from God.

I couldn't get him to tell me how he could tell the difference...

Do you believe the person that told me that God told them Obama was the antichrist? Why or why not?
Many people can be the Antichrist. I don't know if Obama is against God? I can know people by their actions, but it isn't for me to judge or say. So God isn't a socialist or American etc, but our Constitution is based on the understanding in contract of unalienable rights. Which is extended from God the creator to all human beings. Do I disagree with Obama's policy's and his actions towards the prayer, pictorials and monuments etc alike, yes! Do I take offense to his treading on religious freedom, yes! I have descent towards Obama, but do not want him to fail, no, because that means I fail and I am effected as an American. Nothing more nothing less!

And this is why I said nonChristians shouldn't be asked what it is to be Christlike. When you got folks saying that they USED to be Christians, it should be obvious why we are not to ask nonChristians this.:)

Now, I've known a lot of Christians who say they talk to God, and God has given them information that's extra biblical. I recently had a Christian say that God specifically told him that Obama was the antichrist.

God does not give revelation that contradicts His already given revelation. Christians might have some idea of who they think meets the requirements of the AntiChrist. But the identity of the AntiChrist will not be revealed until AFTER Christians have been raptured.

When I mentioned that I thought the Bible said you weren't supposed to add to or take away from what's in the Bible, he said that only applied to man or demon inspired messages, not to direct revelations from God.

That would be a lie. It applies to EVERYONE.

Well, you can ask someone who hasn´t trusted in Charles Manson whether something is Manson-like, can´t you?

But Charles Manson is not Christ. The Bible says 14The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 2:14
