Why arn't there more christian game companys there need to be more I can remember things from games better than I can from school im sure there are ways you could make it educational too could be games that are kinda adventure games like an idea for a cool one would be where you have to be an Angel and fight against demons that are trying to spirtually attack people and you are rewarded with differnet swords or stages or somthing like that. And after each level you get differnet stories about the people that were being attacked and how things worked out for them in that situation. What do you think?

Hi!

Just ran across this topic today. I wanted to let you guys know that there are many christian game developers out there trying to get their product on the market. In fact, my friend and I are working on getting our own company started. I'm a computer programmer, he's an electrical engineer. We're looking into not only creating games, but also creating our own console, one that is actually better (and cheaper, hopefully) than the current next-gen consoles. Also, I'm experimenting with several game ideas, like a christian 2d fighter and a biblical RPG. Sound interesting?

I would actually suggest created an historical RPG during the times of the ancient Hebrew prophets, like being a merchant or a traveler during those times, and actually seeing and experiencing the world during those ages. These times would, of course, be riddled with political upheaval, social strife, and immense religous conflict. That, I would say, would make one heck of a game.

A Christian RPG would be cool...

I wouldn't mind playing the role of David and going around town killing Phillistines by the dozens.

The Old Testament is full of war/violence. Kids would have fun playing while learning a lot of Biblical facts at the same time.

That's a great idea. Maybe even have a Ben Hur type character and follow his adventures as he touches history.

I personally would like an RTS set in the days of the Israelites. You could have a campaign where you conquer the promised land with Joshua. Other ideas for campaigns would be following some of the kings. You could lead David's armies against the philistines, while trying to avoid Saul. Some of the other kings faught a lot as well, so you could play as them.

Multiplayer mode would allow you to play as philistines, Caananites etc. as well as Israel.

There is actually a mod for Dungeon Siege that takes place in ancient Israel named Elemental. It's been a while since I played it so I don't remember many details but it was really challenging, even though it was in an early alpha stage. It is actually more than a simple mod as it adds many new features and is practically a whole new game. Very impressive IMO and I look forward to a more final version.

The problem with Christian games, as i see it, is that people these days will NOT play a game that doesn't have any violence in it or has to do with the Bible. An RTS for the Israelite Campaign sounds cool, but yet again, the "Biblical" theme.

My idea for a game would be where you are working for Paul the Apostle, and planning out where he preaches and when he travels. Perhaps manage his budget to get food and clothing, along with paying for trips and taxes. Like a simulation, you know. ;)

You know what kind I'd like? Just an interactive world. Like, a huge game. I'd want to be able to go anywhere I wanted, and the game world would be enormous. And during Biblical times? I'm sure it'd be all the cooler. But... like, taking care of finances? Who wants to do that in a video game?? I already have to do that in real life!!

I really like the rpg idea.. especially with the merchant/trader idea. This would could be done seamlessly and not seemed forced. During bible times, while seeing some of the events of the bible unfold. Good idea, because it could work.. and if done properly would not feel like somebody taking a popular engine or format and painting Christianity over top of it.

I feel that a Christian game company would do better to focus on trying to make games that are not bad, rather than trying to make games that preach, teach, or have lessons. Just make a game, and during the design process.. question every detail of it, and whether or not they can say proudly that they as Christians were responsible for that.
