Not sure why this is an issue - a lot of people are members there - doesn't make them bad people - or bad Christians!!
no, I agree with what you are saying. BUT....the WOrd is clear about being...oh forget it. I am not going to phrase it right what is in my head...I read over at the other site, and the behavior of 'some' of the "christians" here over there...well, it was double standard ok? THAT is what I have an issue with. Being "Christian" here, then going over there and being worldly.

It just seems ridiculous that a member who is reported can't even go in and defend themself or tell their side of the story. You should at least be able to witness the staff process for handling the report against you. I don't see why that would be a big deal, if they are doing their jobs fairly, then they have nothing to hide.

There should be absolutely no anonymity in the report posts.

If you feel strongly enough to report an offensive post, you should have no qualms about identifying yourself.

Everything needs to be above board and on the table.

A bad idea is a bad idea no matter how many others do it.

Thing is...if it works in other places. And it does. Then it is not per se a bad idea.

It was the nature of this site and the ingrained combative nature that made it a problem. And that problem was not resolved by open reports...it just spread the venom. I am not alone in that opinion.

Open reports with anonymity was a big part of the problem here.

Add to that the fact that the staff virtually ignored most of the reports, and you had a recipe for disaster.

Fair enough - but just being a member there doesn't mean that people are acting like that...
Actually - am not even sure who we are discussing here - so I'll shut up!!

That was the straw that broke this camel's back. Knowing that Erwin went out and invited a bunch of atheists to come here and wreak havoc - and to watch them do so with immunity - was unbelievable.

Perhaps that travesty will be righted.

Don't get me started about the atheists.

General Apologetics is a cesspool and the moderators won't do anything about that, but now they've invaded every part of the boards and there's no place to go where our beliefs and our Lord aren't going to be mocked.

That's EXACTLY why I stopped posting on this site. And, judging from the fact that there are less than one-third the number of members here that there once was, I'm one of many who left.

I repeatedly, and aggressively, pointed this out to the staff, and was openly scorned for it.

If we want a Christian site, let's make it a Christian site! If we just want it to be a place where people come to mock, fight and be stupid, let's make it a Mock, Fight And Be Stupid site!

Again, just a guess. And how many other message boards have open reports? Just a question. And what number of active users at one time would you put it at?

Total users online: 2189
Current members online: 594
Current guests online: 1595

BIg difference. That is probably the average.

Actually, sorry, wasn't gonna get involved in this thread but you're way off the mark there. We may want to look closer to home for many of our problems.

God bless

Fine. I'll take that guess too. Almost 600 people at one time. For a message board that is a lot.

My guess is that the forum is too large and active to make open reports practical. That is my guess.

I look forward to positive changes in our forum. I have met many wonderful, caring people here.

...someone who has 108 posts on CF is in charge? :sorry:
tulc(going to pop some pop corn and make a BIG pot of coffee) :)

When a company is falling apart, going under, is in disarray, it is common to remove the CEO and current managers and bring in a new CEO and his/her team. I don't think the number of his posts in our forum has any relationship to how effective Lee's management will be.

For the membership who doesn't know him however, it can provide fear, worry, that the forum will not be a good place. Yet, there is every indication here that the changes proposed will be good ones over all and with any change, we need some time to adjust to them, and our feelings over them. This is a time to stop, breathe and be slow to jump to conclusions for the overall good of the forum membership. We are a bit sensitive since there has been a ton of change since July, or even before then.

I have some big reservations about these propsed changes. Especially private staff forums and private reports and I worry about our Non-Christian staff members and where they'll be exiled too after these changes simply because of some people's opinions of Non-Christians and what powers or rights they should have here.

But I will wait and see like everyone else. I will say the temp rules seem OK.

I think that staff need a private area to get on the same page with things. Chaos in leadership in front of everyone brings chaos to the body that leadership represents.

The reason that parents should never disrespect another parent in front of the children is that it provides insecurity and the ability for the children to play parents against each other. The parents need to talk privately to get on the same page. I believe that is necessary for the organization as well.

I will be praying for the leadership of our gathering place, and for the healing of our forum. May God be glorified in all we do, and may our words, be the words that He would want us to speak.

I've checked out the Theology areas lately, I had to unsubscribe to a thread I was in (ethics) becuz the attacks against Christianity got SO bad and ... can I say OFF TOPIC too?

THey don't even stay on topic. One Christian gal was in there trying to fend them all off and actually had to come PM me to please give her some help from the attacks against her faith.

THAT is how bad it's gotten. I quit going to theology for awhile becuz of it... with the way rules are, I have to even wonder IF staff has just watched it explode or if it's just not reportable?
Either way, there's lots of blame to throw around as to why it's so nasty here anymore.
It's become hostile to traditional Christianity tho imho.

You are absolutely, completely and totally correct!

And some people continue to wonder why there has been a mass exodus of members!
