1 Timothy 3

Overseers and Deacons

1Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer,[1] he desires a noble task. 2Now the overseer must be above reproach

If he has something like this in his past, he is hardly above reproach.

Well, we can do this:
___Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
1 Thessalonian 5:14.
I will not judge and I shall not condemn... but I can pray!!!
An d later, in 1 Timotevs 3:1-7 it is written:
___This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2___A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3___Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4___One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5___(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6___Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7___Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
I think you people from that community should talk to that person and do whatever the Holly Spirit says in prayer. Be careful with not emmiting judge.

Does anybody know how can I insert a text format for scriptural words, to get the biblical word resalted from my own words?
Thank you.

I know this is harsh but I say no. Because the heads of churches and synaguoges are supposed to be examples for the people. And if the people see the head of the church doing sinful things they can't fully respect him anymore. Now I am not saying throw him from the congregation but I am saying to out him so to speak and then snatch his leadership role away.

Being the head of a congregation is hard..this is why the bible says they will be doubly judged..because they have their own things to contend with but they are also leading a flock.

Frankly, I am GLAD I am not the head of a congregation..because the pressure would be to much on me..LOL!

Now that is indeed and interesting question..Seems God is more merciful and forgiving than some of us believers..LOL!

Nathan the prophet though did in fact rebuke the affair David and Bathsheba had.

Frankly, I would have to see a WHOLE lot of repenting to accept sitting under a head of a church that was in fact caught disobeying God's command. I just feel like he is leading us..so he needs to keep his mind right. David did in fact repent in 2 Samuel 12..

He was punished by God because his seed bore in sin was immediately to bear bitter fruit, and the child of adultery became very ill and died (vs 15-18 in 2 Sam 12). So it wasn't like he was just let off the hook.

Obviously God found David's repentance sincere. And he did bless him with other children..Solomon for one and we know that Solomon was blessed.

So I suspect the right thing to do is forgive..but I say if its still causing a problem..the head needs to be taken down. The bible says to not let divisions be among you and for us not to be stumbling blocks and if a minister found in discepancy is hindering the growth of the flock..he should indeed step down or be taken down.

Can they be restored to their former position of leadership?

Some thoughts

Eph writes...

Yes....why wouldn't they...?

This "Church" Jesus built is made up and FULL to the brim with sinners....who have ALL done something somewhere in life that was "sinful"...!

Peter denied Christ in his hour of need...and Jesus restored HIM and allowed Him to preach on the day of Penticost...the sermon that brought the church into existance...How many "church boards"..would make a person do pennace for awhile before allowing them to be restored..!

Paul murdered Christians as many nd as fast as he could...Jesus only had him write 2/3 of the NT...

Notice in each case true repentance for what they did occured....

Not some sneaky "cover up" ...like what is now being revealed for ALL to see in Boston Roman Branch of the Christian Church..!

Those "phoney's" who claim to be "christian leaders"...in Boston are getting their JUST due...!

Hey Br. Max, I would tend to differ that the king, like the judges before them in the jewish theocracy were spiritual as well as secular leaders. If they obeyed God and listened to his instruction the nation would benefit. However if they didn't the nation would suffer? Compare Ahab and Hezekiah, Or Josiah and Manasseh?

Would you not agree?
