I’m sorry. Christ IS king. I am not going to deny my Lord for some kind of political correctness. Viva Christo Rey.

If some anti-Semites are trying to steal a slogan that is not my problem. We all should say “Christ is king” even more. If they want to use it as a dog whistle we should all get dog whistles and blow them at every opportunity until they give up. Christ is Lord. Christ is king. Anti-Semites can just pound sand.
Amen! Well said, sir!

Christ is King! Glory to him!

Satan twists what already exists. Satan cannot touch the Holy. The phrase is not a holy phrase as it does not appear once in the Bible.
Oh really? Have you read Luke 1?

Because it is not a Biblical phrase, I am trying to steer people towards using a Biblical phrase instead. Do you really have a problem with that?

You are going to have to be more specific...

John 18:36

Which seems to agree with my position more than yours. People who are saying, "Christ is King" usually mean it in a Christian Nationalist way, and this verse directly contradicts Christian Nationalism.

Where did I say to do this?

You think that will solve the problem?

That's not how language works. Using the phrase even more is likely to make a lot of people confused.

I get it that you are a Catholic and as such there is a lot of dogmatism that you have to stand for. I was hoping this was a situation where that was not necessary, but I guess not, even though there are no official statements by the Catholic church about the phrase, to the best of my knowledge.
The phrase comes from a true understanding of the Word of God.

False, as I have already said, "Christ" already means "king" so the term is redundant.

I agree. I don't have the same problem with saying "King of Kings and Lord of Lords" because there aren't the same controversies surrounding that phrase. Funny how this works... The things stated directly in the Bible, like "King of kings" and "King of the Jews," are not being used inappropriately, and yet, the Bible never says, "Christ is King," and that comes with a lot of baggage.
There are many Catholic parishes called "Christ the King." There is no baggage.

I don't know about you, but when I saw people like Candace Owens saying, "Christ is King," I knew something was up. We had our inclinations that this phrase has been used in an anti-semitic way for years, but now it is literally smacking us in the face.

Please don't use the phrase "Christ is King." It is a true statement, yes, but it carries with it a lot of baggage. It's somewhat lumped together with Christians Nationalism which has some baggage of it's own. But "Christ is King" has been used in overt ways as anti-semitic language.

Here is one example.

So, I say, chose this day who you will serve. Will you be a Biblical Christian and realize Jesus was a Jew? Or will you fall to the dark side and keep saying "Christ is King"?

I realize this is controversial, but at some point a line needs to be drawn and I think this is the time the line needs to be drawn.
How does acknowledging that Christ is King negate the fact He was a Jew ?
I fail to see your point

Personally, I've never used this meme since it only relies upon a shoddy predicate. We all know Christ isn't King.

.... He's the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! And the world will just have to get over it.
"Isn't King" ?
I can't agree.

It's been used in anti-semitic ways. This is clear if you pay attention to the people using the term and their stance on Israel.

I don't hang around with anti-Semites, so won't notice their vile inferences.

I agree that He is a King. Messiah literally means "king." So saying "Christ is King" is like saying, "King is King."

I agree that He is a King. Messiah literally means "king." So saying "Christ is King" is like saying, "King is King."
It is simply seeing the word "Christ", from a different perspective.
I don't believe I have ever heard of "Messiah" being equated with the word "King".
I think "anointed" when I see the word "Messiah"
Besides, we weren't discussing the word "Messiah".
Some may have never equated the word "Christ" with the word "King".
Jesus can answer to many names.

Christ means Messiah in Greek.

Popes, like other Catholics, are free to have their own political opinions and voice those opinions.

Sure, they are, except when the evidence is against them. And in the case of Israel, they have every right to fight back. I wouldn't call that anti-semitic, but leaving hostages to die is neither merciful nor just.

I agree Israel has every right to take action.
