Prom...I remember those cards with the little slots for dimes. No, didn't ever hear about that poor DJ.

Does anyone here remember "Minute Man Stamps"? ...and when and why we purchased them. I still had some until lost them in a house fire in 1995. Never did get enough to buy a ___ ____.
:) birdie...

Seems we missed out on a lot here in Oz.
Remember the first transistor radios? They had batteries bigger than most portable radios of today.

Ahh yes, the transistor radio. I remember when they first came out with the ones small enough to carry around with the ear piece, mine had a black leather case. I was cool.

Went to lunch with some of the older single ladies from our new church. I wished later that I hadn't. :(
We had just heard this wonderful sermon on how God has a special and specific design for each of us. Since we really don't know all the ins and outs of what He is doing in the lives of others, we need to basically butt out of their private business. I came away thinking, "Pastor you are right on target". Most of us have been the victim of someone judging us for things that was totally unfair, and honestly most of us have been guilty of doing it ourselves. We don't know what God is doing in their lives, so our job is to love them, pray for them, and trust that God will be working in them to bring about His purpose for them as a part of His plan.

All of us had not even sat down at the table when one of the ladies started in on another one who wasn't there. Dollie, a widow, is about to remarry next week and this lady just thought it was the stupidest thing that she had ever heard of.
And most of the others just chimed right in. I tried to gently and humorously remind them of what we had just heard. But I could tell it was falling on deaf ears. Then they started to make plans for where they were going to meet next time. Apparently this is to be a weekly get together. Oh my! I think I have some leftovers at home. ;)

I am much more encouraged by my fine feathered Eagle friends here. My hat is off to all of you for such fine feathers. :) You are one special bunch.

Thank you Prom for this story. I needed to be reminded of this fact today----that God is working in all our lives and it is our job to pray that his will for others be accomplished. I'm sorry though that the ladies get-to-gether was a disappointment and I will say a prayer that you find friendships that benefit and lift you up in your new church but meanwhile the Golden Eagles are here for you:thumbsup: .

I agree Migs.

I am thinking of buying the book Josephus--The Essential Works by Paul Maier. I hear it is very good and that Maiers takes an otherwise dry textbook and makes it understandable and easier to read. I have wanted to buy it for awhile and have been reading reviews about it, he has a new version out but I will buy the old one in paperback first.

It was nice here today, but I'm sure it will be hot and muggy tomorrow. :sigh:

I got my shopping done at WalMart, then I went to the sports center and walked for an hour on the inside track. It's in an air conditioned building.

I bought some material and a pattern to make Mandy a dress. I found a pattern that is fifties style; sleeveless, with fitted bodice and gathered skirt. I am anxious to get started on it tomorrow. It is her birthday. :) I don't do much sewing anymore, but am looking forward to this project.

I know this is an interesting post for any male Golden Eagle that might be dropping by. :D

Well, I go away for awhile and keep gets a chit-chat going. It was warm today, but not humid. I scooted down to the library to pick up a book that came in. I heard of it on Focus on the Family (or some show like that), called Under the Overpass, written by a guy who live as a homeless person for a year. I just like stuff like that.
Monday I finally see a hand specialist about my carpel tunnel; I had about a 3 month wait.

Ok, I see we have some dog people. My boys have been watching a Sibearrian Husky, outside dog on a tether. The owners would be glad to give it to the boys; I just don't know. I won't get near it because it stinks and I don't care for dogs in the first place. Can something tell me how to bathe a husky, etc.? Since they're made for Alaska, can they stay outside no matter how cold it is? She has a dog house.

I've been around people like that; my own mother was like that. I think there's a insecurity or a need to make themselves feel more acceptable. I was really shy and self-conscience as a young woman, because I thought everyone was like that. A friend I made helped me realize most people are too busy living their own lives to be scrutinizing others.
