Nice to see you here, Loveabounds.
True story:
today a repairman knocks on my door.
I live in a trailer so some repair work is always specific to trailers.
he hands me his flyer and looks up at my roof.
"Mam I do roof coating as well, can I ask who did your roof"
my reply: "I did"
he gives me a compationate look.
"well mam" he says, "If your gonna do it yourself let me show you how"
so he walked me around and showed my places in my trailer that needed calked, where my gutters attach to my house and explained why that needed coated as well, and how to fix my skirting where it had come unattached to the house. He spent almost an hour with me![]()
I will call him sometime this summer to fix my back door.. but that is because I already planned on calling someone and it's way out of the realm of what I can do myself.
Just thought that was a good story.
ps... he still has no idea that i need help with the hot water situation... i have limited time and money you know. lol... I wish I hadn't gotten so fat... He would make a great boyfriend about now.
That was very nice of him to do for you! Most people would just give you a quote (after jacking up the price of course) instead of trying to help you.
I'm a widow so I know the importance of watching pennies!
What's wrong with your door? Are you sure you can't fix it yourself??
doors for trailers come in complete assembly kits. Mine needs replaced. I tried to fix the front door last year.... couldn't even lift it --- too heavy. and the floor gets weak and rotted from water seeping in... so no, I can't do it myself... It will prob cost around $1000 all total. He'll profit from the labor but I'll buy the door and have it delivered. door assemblies range from $300-$650. I need so much and a lot of it is because I let things go for so long without doing minor repairs around the place. I can save money doing my own calking and roof needs. but I need him for the door.
Wow!! That's a lot of money!!
I hadn't thought about how heavy the door would be. You're right...you need someone to do that!! Don't get hurt!
yes, the front one I tried to install myself... I couldn't even lift it upright by myself, one of my neighbors helped me bring it indoors until i could find someone to install it.. then I learned by watching him that I would have never done it properly anyway. the hammering, and knocking out the old door frame and realigning that must be done really needs someone who knows what they are doing. Not someone like me.
