You're right - it's Saturday. Here we've already lost 1 hour and 1 minute of Saturday. I have no idea what we did with it. The last time I looked at the clock, it was almost midnight.

Hello, Eagles!
Haven't been around in awhile. Hope you all are doing well. I think I had posted that my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer in May. She is currently in a rehab/skilled nuring facility and I have been very busy dealing with her care issues and her business affairs. ( I'm sure many of you have had some of those type experiences at our stage in life.)
Anyhow, just stopping in to say 'hello' and to say it's in Texas. We have had almost 40 straight days of 100+ temps. Eager for some cooling autumn!

It's great to hear from you. You and your family are in my prayers. Yes, I have had some experience in that area - as most of us have.

It's hot here also. I think that our average for the last 60 days is 105F, and we're in a horrible drought. We get excited about a 10 to 20% chance for rain.

Please know that you and your family will remain in my prayers. In the meantime - KEEP LOOKING UP!

Good to hear from you kaykay. yes I know what you mean when we were in Phoenix it was over !00 the whole time we were there. At first it was delightful as we had come from the cold rainy northwest but it was starting to take its toll especially when my hubby had to be out working in the yard. We are home now with sun and cooler evening temps. A nice change not anxous for the rain to begin again though. My heart goes out to you and your mom I hope she is comfortable where she is and at peace. Hugs Jan

I think that we have the same situation in Oklahoma. Our average over the last 60 days is 105F. We're ready for rain, snow, or anything that would cool things off.

Thanks for the prayers. Yep, we are in a bad drought too. Strict watering restrictions begin in a couple of days, but thank the LORD, last Saturday we did get a good rain here in this area. (Just need MUCH more!) I actually got out of bed in the middle of the night to watch it rain for a few minutes!
Good to see you posting, Clairefish! I'm just straining towards Fall right now, never mind February! LOL

Hi everybody

Our 'Leicester's, MATE, 'Alfie', passed-away, on Monday
and he has been grieving ever since
with squawks that are MUCH much- louder, than we have EVER heard from him
I interred Alfie's carcass out in the back garden right-after I found her on the floor of the cage
in an area that we wont be digging-up
Her departure had been sudden, [unexpected] as she had shown no-sign of illness [?]

Today, Mary and I purchased a male cockatiel, to keep him 'company'
This because, Leicester, is a bit 'old in the beak' to be mating with another hen
and we have place the newest addition in a small cage near Leicester's
while they acclimatize to each-other's 'presence' in the room

We haven't yet, come up with a name for him...
So that, is still to be pondered-upon

I'll put up some pix ...later this week

What 'lovely' weather everyone seems to be reporting
Of-course! like Jan says ....
for those that know regular cool and wet weather...a spell in the sun would be 'brilliant'
But I do also acknowledge, that when there is no 'break' from the hot sun over many months
life can, get 'difficult' and at-times 'hard'

that those whom need rain, are not deprived of it

"Loss"

We enjoyed Alfie's time with us and have 'let-go' of her
'unable, as we are, to bring her back'

I clipped the new bird's overlong claws [just a few minutes ago]
and it squawked non-stop, in my gloved-hand, while, all the while
trying to inflict the greatest pain upon the glove
Clearly, it is not used-to being 'handled' at-all.

Which is something, it will hopefully, have years, to learn
that it must submit-to, necessary 'handlings'

He is to be called: "Buddy"

Although, he is coloured similarly, to 'Leicester'
we will have no-difficulty, knowing which is which
for 'Buddy' is somewhat larger than 'Leicester', when sat 'side by side'
