Thanks so much leytonstones...I was here last saturday...this is a view of a small estuary just So of Morro Bay, Ca. This serves as a bird sanctuary too...we were walking in the Elfin Forest.

This pond is very near my son's home in Paso Robles...we walk there often.

These are great they look like they are High Definition shots. My son does them takes several photos of the same thing adjusting settings each time then uses a program to combine them into the best most realistic picture. Anyway good to see you back. Jan

Good photos Sis angel'

The program Paint.net [?] can do very much the same thing

Copy a pic to several layers
ADD CONTRAST to one
ADD BLACK & WHITE to another
ADD SATURATION /HUE to yet another
ADJUST LAYER OPACITY for best-effect
MAKE ORIGINAL PHOTO TRANSPARENT
MERGE LAYERS DOWN and FLATTEN before saveing

I could also use the PHOTO\SHARPEN & NOISE REDUCTION tools

This DOESN'T WORK on 'over-exposed' photos
but 'underexposed' photos may be enhanced
in the above LAYERS option
by adjusting BLUE\ GREEN\ YELLOW - BLUE\ GREEN\ RED levels
in various copied layers

:thumbsup:

I think Adobe has a lot of competition out there. LOL

Well I guess the neat thing about my sons program is that it does the computing for you and you choose the compilation picture you like best. I think once you choose there are still slight adjustments you can make. I remember working with photoshop got pretty complicated when I was involved a couple of years ago. I don't own it but had access at school in one of the classes I was supporting.

Here is a 'quickie example' of, the North Wales Coastline
[around the headland centre image...'Llandudno' can be seen, in a similar view]

and, after treatment in three layers [losing the ORIGINAL] ¬v

Maybe, I should, have copied-down the sky, for in my edit, it has lost much of the grey 'content' [shadows]

Yes, that is GRASS out there on the beach

Photoshop...CS5 is more complicted...I have a more simple softeware...PSe9...Elements...it is easier to use and much cheaper...I am still discovering what I can do with it, plus using the web freebies.

I can see your edits Dave...I do like the bottom version....just a tad more color. I always file and save my originals before going to edit. Something I learned early on. :)

Oh yes, I agree with your 'good habit' ~copy from original and save the edit
never-alter, 'the original' in archive :thumbsup:

.Tiffs are much larger file sizes
and so are better for working in 'Full Size' leaving us then
to save edits at more appropriate resolutions and filetypes
Like you, I must leave my .pdn files upon my harddrive

Whilst CF will download .bmp files, to your computer, it doen't seem to enjoy
them, being uploaded ... iow: CF prefers... .jpg, .png, and .gif files

I left the photography classes I 'd begun attending
after just six or seven attendances [?] This, because I noticed
that Photoshop was being introduced, to enable EDITING of other-peoples pictures
and that the 'camera lessons' had virtually ceased

Photoshop, was a software program that I could never hope to own, myself
[same problem I had with AutoCAD, many years ago]

The certificate of competence ~City & Guilds
meant absolutely nothing to prospective employers
whom, required, a minimum of two years continuous experience
_across the board/ no-exceptions!!
So-much then, for Government Employment Retraining Schemes

It simply removed people temporarily from the unemployment register
~to make their jobless-figures
_ appear 'better' _in the press

I have had some FUN... with IMIKIMI , SLIDE and FotoSketcher programs

But my use of Windows Paint [in .png & .gif files]
and Paint.Net... [all, image-formats]
provides me, with an abundance of image editing tools [for free]

Tips....?
make a template of a corner and save-it
and at-will copy and paste it and in any colour /colour combination
to all four corners of a workspace_ with a reorientation_ to make a very nice FRAME

The small filesize.... of the corner piece [component]
avoids the storing of a complete frame
iow: 'draw once' and use it many times...
is an economy that I am sure, you can, really appreciate [?] I do!!!

Also, why store an 800 x 600 [copy] for CF
when it will only be reduced-to 600 x 600 anyway

I store 'originals' in my SKYDRIVE accounts...
with folders of 800 x 600 images, for whenever I want to link to
a screen sized image and show it here
Alternatively, saveing in 780 x 550 provides for a neat little PADDING at the sides
:)

Best [unasked-for] Advice....;) ;) is to HAVE FUN...doing and trying-out
Your best efforts always show well
when you are enjoying what you are doing
:thumbsup:

dave

Until we meet again here-online...Be abundantly blessed :thumbsup:

Prayer for Friends
~~~~~~
Lord Jesus Christ,
while on earth you had close and devoted friends,
such as John. Lazarus, Martha and Mary.
You showed in this way that friendship
is one of life's great blessings.
Thank you for the friends that you have given me
to love me in spite of my failures and weaknesses,
and to enrich my life after your example.
Let me ever behave toward them
as you behaved toward your friends.
Bind us close together in you and enable us
to help one another on our earthly journey.
Amen.
Tomorrow is Friday, so I'm going to get a jump on things and wish everyone a great weekend. Remember - GRIN - it will make everyone wonder what you've been up to.
