Subject:The Green Thing

The Green Thing.......

In the line at the store, the cashier told an older woman that she
should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for
the environment.

The woman apologized to him and explained, "We didn't have the green
thing back in my day."

The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did
not care enough to save our environment."

He was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.

Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to
the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and
sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and
over. So they really were recycled.

But we didn't have the green thing back in our day.

We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store
and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb
into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.

But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day.

Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the
throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling
machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry the
clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters,
not always brand-new clothing. But that old lady is right; we didn't
have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every
room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief
(remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana .

In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have
electric machines to do everything for us.

When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used a wadded
up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut
the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised
by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on
treadmills that operate on electricity.

But she's right; we didn't have the green thing back then.

We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or
a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water.

We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we
replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole
razor just because the blade got dull.

But we didn't have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes
to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi
service.

We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets
to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget
to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in
order to find the nearest pizza joint.

But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old
folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then?

Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson
in conservation from a smartass young person.

Nice Brother Dave!

Signs Found In The Kitchen

So this isn't Home Sweet Home ... Adjust!

Martha Stewart doesn't live here!!

Ring bell for maid service. If no answer, do it yourself!

I clean house every other day. Today is the other day.

If you write in the dust, please don't date it!

I would cook dinner but I can't find the can opener!

My house was clean last week, too bad you missed it!

I came, I saw, I decided to order take out.

If you don't like my standards of cooking ...lower your standards.

Although you'll find our house a mess, Come in, sit down, converse. It doesn't always look like this: Some days it's even worse.

A messy kitchen is a happy kitchen, and this kitchen is delirious.

A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand!

Thou shalt not weigh more than thy refrigerator.

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused.

Countless number of people have eaten in this kitchen and gone on to lead normal lives.

My next house will have no kitchen ... just vending machines.

I'd live life in the fast lane, but I am married to a speed bump.

This is absolutely beautiful . Enjoy and pass it on .

The U, In Jesus

This Is Beautiful!

The U in JesUs

268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

Before U were thought of or time had begun,

God stuck U in the name of His Son…

268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

And each time U pray, U'll see it's true,

You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He was born; that's why He came.
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

And His great love for U is the reason He died.
It even takes U to spell crUcified.
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the dead, with U in His plan?
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,
And this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

When JesUs left earth at His Upward ascension,
He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

"Go into the world and tell them it's true
That I love them all - Just like I love U."
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

So many great people are spelled with a U,
Don't they have a right to know JesUs too?
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

It all depends now on what U will do,
He'd like them to know,
But it all starts with U.
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

Will YOU pass it on.
268724_10150271854799704_760694703_7381426_1718948_n.jpg

283964_10150271854864704_760694703_7381428_2670976_n.jpg

When Jesus died on the cross he was thinking of you!

This morning I searched my wallet.
It was empty.
Then, I checked my pockets.
I found a few coins.
I then searched my heart and found you.
Then, I realized how rich I really am...

Dear Lord,

Every single evening

As I'm lying here in bed,
This tiny little Prayer
Keeps running through my head:

God bless all my family
Wherever they may be,
Keep them warm
And safe from harm
For they're so close to me.

And God, there is one more thing
I wish that you could do;
Hope you don't mind me asking,
Please bless my computer too.

Now I know that it's unusual
To Bless a motherboard,
But listen just a second
While I explain it to you, Lord.

You see, that little metal box
Holds more than odds and ends;
Inside those small compartments
Rest so many of my friends.

I know so much about them
By the kindness that they give,
And this little scrap of metal
Takes me in to where they live.

By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you.
We share in what life brings us
And from that our friendships grew.

Please take an extra minute
From your duties up above,
To bless those in my address book
That's filled with so much love.

Wherever else this prayer may reach
To each and every friend,
Bless each e-mail inbox
And each person who hits 'send'.

Thank you Jan Sis'

I posted this a couple of days ago into The Joyful Hearts Group

But, I feel the need to alert as many friends as I can
regarding these 'threats' to our PC's

Several friends have their computers in the SHOP as I write this

¬v

Further to my post below...
and with the 'intent' ~to keep FAMILY and Friends J O Y F U L

I NEED... TO POST THIS CAUTION, HERE

We, all of us, use the Sun Java as we use our computers on the internet

This is a WARNING ...that several EXPLOITS have been discovered 'making the rounds'

The danger to most people
is that they have installed Sun Java, as a necessary [essential] component for internet compatibility
and, as they did so, they also 'allowed it' to update automatically
~as the application surfs with you... it is ALWAYS looking
[on the lookout] for updates to itself

Like me, you cannot avoid the Java taking on update-files
that it believes, are more-recent than those it has

Here, is the crunch !!!

I use Microsoft Windows Security Essentials, and, I keep it updated
Once, per week I run a 'quick scan' which looks at 'critical areas' and will warn of threats
~Once per month, I run a FULL SYSTEM SCAN _...and today, is that 'day'

I received 'warnings' regarding three exploits
within the results, of the following files, having been installed

Microsoft Security Essentials... was able to REMOVE them

Screenshots below¬v

Update and 'RUN' your AntiMalware / Trojan/Virus checkers [today]

Microsoft Security Essentials... is free for users of GENUINE 'Windows Operating Systems'
Highly recommended for Windows users

Hello Brother Dave,

So, I assume that it would be good to disable auto update for Java and manually update it from the source (Sun).

Yes Bro' Tom...

This can be done EASILY...
via the Browser Properties\ Advanced Tab\ Manage ADD-ONS
~Disable: Java auto-update

I always 'update' my Java, from the Sun site
whenever, any site announces that I need an update
The last time I did so, I also had Sun, VERIFY my installation

I have no-idea, by what route they were installed
The important thing is, that I discovered them before they were run
and now they have been removed...
also~ I am here [and ABLE] to tell others

I went into my CF Friends List, earlier

I hit half a dozen or so, of those I hadn't seen around in a while
to find that all of those, had ceased posting since 2008/9/10 and March 2011

I still think of them, from time to time, and wonder how they are doing
But, of-course, I do know, that they have been prayed into His care
and that wherever they are, they have, an angel looking after them

Isaiah 40:31

I was just reading this and felt led to share it:

Titus 2:11-15 KJV For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

I give thanks for all of God's blessings and promises.
