I love using textures Dave...
there are very good ones for free at Flickr...
and I keep working at making my own...it is not as easy as it might look.

I have been editing one of my own recent photos [Southport]

Here, is a copy of the original [reduced size] edits follow

Next, the sepia landscape with the original skyscape, replaced

and now, the composite of original / sepia / gamma adjusted elements

'Textures' are 'easy' to produce [one's OWN]
and the good ones, have the lighting [are lit] from, just the right angle

I took a snap of my trousers [thigh area]

The following pictures are edits of the above snap

This picture arrived from nowhere from within Paint .NET
as I progressed with edit from the original pic above [first photo image]
The remainder are 'saves' along the way

yes... using focus and zoom,
we are able to abstract backgrounds from the original pictures
and edit these to provide 'textures'
