  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I shared in another thread about the nice concert I attended last night. It was James Taylor a folk singer from the early 70's It was a great concert and I got free tickets which made it even nicer. dave you might be interested to know that he kind of got his big break in England with Peter Asher in 1968.
http://
I'm sure you enjoyed that! My husband just downloaded some James Taylor music to his ipod.

Well, our electricity went off for awhile yesterday. In Texas it gets hot without a/c rather quickly. Thankfully, we went out for an early dinner and by the time we got back, it was on again. If it had stayed off all night, we would have gone to a hotel. (It was about 101 degrees in Dallas yesterday.)

Oh My that is warm isn't it. Glad all is back to normal. What was done before AC? oh yeah now I remember, SIESTA.
Had a busy weekend of watching my hubby's young men's team (he coaches) play soccer for a final cup game on Saturday. They lost but were happy to get that far. His manager arranged for a BBQ after the game and all of us went. Yesterday we had 13 over for another BBQ at our house. My hubby's cousin and her two kids and his mom plus my four sons, one girlfreind, one homestay student a niece and us two. I am glad the weather was nice and we could eat outside. Also my hubby did all the cooking (burgers) I got the salads and chips and dip and fruit and beverages oraganized. He also cleaned up which was lovely. Today I have some airport pick up and ferry terminal drop offs of other relatives which will take a few hours. It is another lovely day. ttyl

Hi everyone. I'm just checking in while the boss is at lunch. Kittystorm is getting a lot of help to catch up to me so I'm going to have to work harder to get more reps in order to stay ahead.

Had a busy on the run type of day. Got my sis and hubby from the airport had to wait and then report lost bags then drove them to the ferry. All in all it was about 3 hrs. I then stopped for some much needed supplies at my local supermarket only to find on returning home that I have left two flats of 24 each juice boxes on my cart. Fortunately an honest soul turned them in so I was able to pick them up at customer service. Now I am goig to crash and catch a few 'rays' on my deck. :)

Dropping in, to say Hi

Well, it was a busy Monday...

This 'computer-addict' had to agree with Mary, here
that I spend too much time Rapping with friends
so as to give her the feeling she was being neglected

A BIG BOX of Choc's and an apology,
made history of those feelings
and a personal-resolution from myself, to-myself
to-include her, MORE in my remaining days...
will I hope stave-off, the return of such feelings of isolation/ neglect

:blush::sorry::blush:

Yeah you are not alone dave, my hubby just told me to get off the computer as he asked me 3 times (he says) where the keys to the van were so he could go to work. I answered the questions I heard but that one somehow got missed. Anyway the keys were right where they usually are but because I drove last he didn't think to check there first. For me it was a commbination of lack of sleep last night no coffee and hyper focus on my computer task.:sorry:

I have for many years, puzzled and questioned WHY?
different Bibles and versions tell, different versions of the same books

Just WHY, it is, that these VARIATIONS are claimed to be, the Truth
I mulled, over motive and political influence [?] and also
the 'assumed' POWER, of, the Churches [?]

Today I found this [online] and felt that this, is, in written form
'corruboration' for, my feelings, concerning man's influence
in the translation and amendment of, original writings.....
Where, there was then, included within them [Bibles] some untruth
and also, the mind of man

Ancient Bible is recreated online

One of the oldest copies of the Bible which has been scattered around the globe for more than a century
is being made available online.
The Codex Sinaiticus will be available as a complete book for the first time
since it was unearthed at a Monastery in Egypt in 1844, thanks to a £1 million online project.
The British Library has digitally reconnected the manuscript, which has been housed
in libraries in the UK, Russia, Egypt and Germany.
The Book of Psalms and St Mark's Gospel will become the first parts of the Codex
to be put online for public use, with the rest of the reconstructed document following in the next year.
The Codex Sinaiticus was put together in the Fourth Century AD
after Roman emperor Constantine adopted Christianity as his official religion,
and offers a version of the Scriptures that differ from later editions of the Bible.
St Mark's Gospel ends 12 verses before later versions, omitting the appearance of Jesus Christ resurrected.
"That's quite a big difference," said Juan Garces who curated the project for the British Library.
"It is unusual because in the other Gospels, you have the appearance of the risen Christ.
You would read the Gospel of Mark differently. It shows how important this book is in studying Bible history."
Two religious works, the Epistle of St Barnabus and Shepherd of Hermas, are included
that do not appear in later versions. It will be available at www.Codexsinaiticus.org.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This, supports my own interpretation...
which I have deduced from VARIATIONS to the word, in 'modern-bibles'
not, then, being the faithful interpretation of original writings...
[iow: the errors, of man.... deliberately or, otherwise so-compiled]

To see the truth.... you must have FAITH
and it helps, when,
you have all the available texts, before you
to SEE.... the whole story and deduce it's meanings
Which, were different then than now... simply because
of the TERMS OF REFERENCE & COMPARISONS
which, back-then, conveyed more-accurate meanings

The Spirit is His 'word'
[and man is a liar, when TRUTH, is not upon his tongue]

Hello to you all :)

A busy time here. I look in when I can. I was wondering if any of you dear people here might know why my pumpkins keep going brown when they get to the size of a golf ball? I have lost several. There are more babies on the plant, which looks very healthy. I am at a loss to know what I am doing wrong. I have never grown pumpkins before. Any help or advise would be most appreciated.

Blessings

Hi Ley good to hear from you. No I do not know why the pumpkins are turning brown. Too much sun or too much water would be my guess though. I hope the new "baby pumpkins" come through ok.

Dave I am not sure this is the thread to get into your questions about Bible translations, but I would remind you that this book you cite is in itself a 'transtlation' and could have indeed been influenced back then by certain errant doctrine of the day. :idea:The modern translations use much older manulscripts in their oiginal languages for their bible translations so I believe are actually very reliable. There is a lot of stuff like the hype about the "Gospel of Judas" coming out these days through the media that reflect the predominant heresy the early church combatted and that was Gnosticism so I take these "new revelation" scriptures with a grain of salt usually. However I will check it out. Peace Jan:prayer:

Hi Ley

not knowing the ANSWER that you appear to need

I have been searching for info
This site deals with damp problems
and our country gets quite a bit of said 'moisture'

http://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profiles0901/pumpkin.asp

still looking

This site lays out the Preparatory steps to successful growth
perhaps you could compare this with your treatments 'comparatively'
and maybe, then discover if, and whether, you have 'boobed' at-all

Hiyah Jan

Thank you for your response

I await the completion and display of the works
that I can examine them

The documentation says that the scriptures were written
from 1800 years ago and elsewhere, in the year 400
< a time when written language wasn't amongst the general populations

I acknowledge, your __ cautious opinion Sis'
and will bear in mind, that: 'a little-knowledge, is a dangerous thing'

Incidentally, I had, an HTTP ERROR 401
when, I tried to visit the site
this has something to do with
security and the server setup of the site

Maybe the reason for this has 'some-significance'

I did as well and the manuscripts were not at this time available for viewing. It looks like a very intersting and scholarly site. I know there are some parts of Mark that are ommited from some copies of the scriptures but had never heard that the resurrection was one of them.

Mar 16:17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
Mar 16:18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
Mar 16:19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
Mar 16:20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it
.

Hi missms

In my first marriage there was Michael...
He, was taken to live with Jesus aged just, four months
Then came Marcel, followed by son Robin some 13 months later

There were a further six children in my second marriage
where our fourth child also went to live with Jesus after just 6.5 hours
having been born during the 26th week
