I managed to restart my Mary's PC
on the desktop, which was WHITED-OUT
was a message that
THIS COMPUTER HAS RECOVERED FROM A SERIOUS ERROR
etc etc
Report this to Microsoft Yes/ No ?
I chose YES
Video Drivers are corrupted or missing
Go to Microsoft Update to obtain new drivers
which I did...BUT!! the site
went around and around in circles
and nothing else happened
so, I broke-off the search > my PC being scanned
and went to ATI Radeon Site
where I downloaded and installed their Catalyst 8.1 Video Drivers
for, Windows XP Professional
and Lo....
Mary's blessings shine-on abundantly
Praise the Lord!!!!
She is, presently telling her friends in America
that the problems have been overcome
and that they WILL see her 'onsite' this evening after-all
HERE, is a little TIP
that might, in certain circumstances, save you
loads of money
If, you press your PC's ON-button
and the PC does-not PROCEED to the Welcome-Screen
FIRST... press and Hold-Down the ON/ OFF button
[on the front of your PC]
Until the power cuts off [?]
it takes about FOUR SECONDS or so
THEN
#1 Check that all leads
are properly connected to the rear of your PC,
especially, the Blue one
that is secured by screws on each side [?]
this one goes to your Monitor
check that the monitor plug is pressed firmly 'home'
#2 Pull out the 'power cord'
to the rear of your Tower
and while it is away from the PC
PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the on/off button
[on front of PC] for TEN SECONDS
Release the button
and now reconnect the power-cord again
Press the on-button
and
fingers crossed
the 'read' of, your harddrive will now, begin normally
To check, that all of, the WINDOWS FILES
are 'sound' and in the correct place
you should set up a 'dskchk'
This is an inbuilt feature of WINDOWS
and to start it, you must do the following
click on START
click on My Computer
right click on the harddrive icon
the one, which contains your operating system
this, is usually C:
unless, like me, you have altered-it, to another letter
to defeat certain 'hostile searches'
Following this right clicking of, your OS harddrive
select PROPERTIES
another window will open
At the top of this window CLICK 'Tools'
in the next window check the upper two boxes
and then click okay
you will be told that these checks
REQUIRE 'exclusive use' of, Windows
and that the check
will be started, the NEXT TIME that Windows is started
acknowledge-this, by clicking OK
Restart your computer
Depending entirely on the SPEED of your PC
This, 'checking/ testing' can, take a long time
BUT!!! it is, so worthwhile doing
Who Knows WINDOWS ? like WINDOWS does ???
During this scan
damaged/ corrupted and missing files are replaced
from Windows CAB Files
and Automatic Updates will ensure
that your files are updated to the latest versions
When you are DONE
you should make a new *Restore Point
which, will then reset your machine to this, 'refreshed state'
should you need to do this in-future
to correct, 'wrongly adjusted' system settings

Praying for those who are suffering from anything that keeps them from enjoying their fellowship with the Lord and prevents joy in their lives. Hope all of you have a wonderful, wonderful day.
