I wish I could do more traveling. We are planning a trip to Dallas Tx this June to see my Brother. He has a farm and he is building a new house so we are going to take my 6yr old grandson with us so he can have fun on the farm.

Right now, I am sinfully proud of my oldest daughter, who teaches science in the houston area. She just called to tell me that the ten thousand dollar grant she sought to take a trip across the United States visiting all the National Parks was awarded to her! This was no small undertaking, and the best thing about it is that she will be able to take her child, my oldest grand daughter, with her!
What a glorious opportunity!
And I know I'm kinda goofy, but I just had to share it here with you all!
Am I beaming? I do believe I am!!:pink: :pink:
No sin there! You are justified in your pride. I pray they have a wonderful time and a safe trip!

Congrats. That will be a great opportunity for all of them. Too bad you could not make the trip along with her. I've been to several National Parks over the years. We used to take 3 weeks vacations and drive across the USA. It was a very learning experience. My Mother made us kids make scrapbooks for every trip. Every night before turning in we would have to write a down what we did that day and what we saw. We would collect placemats and napkins from places we ate and postcards from different things we saw. It was great. I still have some of them packed in boxes.
We love to travel and have also been to many of the state and national parks here in the good ole USA. When we retire and can get other things settled we are planning to take off in our RV and just spend time traveling around. I love the idea of making the scrapbooks. I wish I would have thought of it when my daughter was young.

Claire, that is wonderful news, and what a great experience for them. One of my goals is to see all 50 states and as many national parks as I can, so this sounds especially terrific. I'm beaming with you!
Mine too!

Isn't it great to learn how much we all have in common.

He should have fun on the farm.

My brother and his wife just retired and they have taken off in their RV and traveling all around. He said that he loves not having the house chores anymore. I think I would like that too.

I have always wished that I could have raised my girls on a farm. We did have chickens and a few goats and horses on and off during their young lives, and the lessons they learned from these animals were priceless.
I know most farmer's plights are worrysome and hard, but I think I'll always wish I had a farm.

I love farms, too, Claire.

One of my earlies memories was my grandfather's house in Bavaria, Germany. It wasn't a farm, exactly, but he and my grandmother had a huge vegetable garden, chickens, rabbits and lots of cats. I loved chasing the chickens--but I learned to leave the neighbor's geese alone!

I think there are a lot of life lessons that can be learned on a farm, better then anywhere else. Responsibility, for one. The merit of hard work. The power of prayer.

Today I live in an area where area farmers depend on irrigation to grow cotton. They still pray a lot in my area, though. We have hailstorms here which can wipe out a crop in a few minutes. Sometimes I don't know how they have the optimism to plant at all.

As for me--well, we have about 400 square feet in our vegetable garden. Of course we call it the "North Four Hundred." We're about to start preparing the ground for the season again. It will take sweat, hard work, commitment--and prayer.

Some Golden-Eagles Nestlings have reported CONFUSION

Hopefully, this will be remedied real-soon
and then we can get back, to BEING
