I log into messenger and all I get is the home page
asking if I want to download it. I already have.
What is really frustrating is I use to use it with no problems
but haven't for a while.
The chat I don't see how to use at all
except the mobile part, I have used that successfully.

It seems that Yahoo... closed it's chat rooms earlier this year
but has provided a link to another place [from Lycos to Noesis]
where you can sign-in etc

Our chat partner, Lycos, announced on 26 November 2008 that certain services will be discontinued.
Unfortunately, this includes the chat service that you are registered to or are expressing an interest in visiting.
Although operation of the chat service will continue for the time being, Lycos has decided to close registration.
In addition, Yahoo! Chat powered by Lycos will close on 09 Mar 2009.
If you wish to continue using the Chat service, you may do so with the new Chat provider Noesis Chat.

Why is Yahoo! Chat closing?
Yahoo! Chat powered by Lycos has been provided by LYCOS.
Since their parent company LYCOS Europe N.V. has decided to discontinue their Chat business
(amongst others), Yahoo! Chat powered by Lycos will also terminate on 9 March 2009.
How long will I be able to chat?
You can log into Yahoo! Chat powered by Lycos as usual and use all the functions until 09 March 2009.
What will happen on 9.3.2009?
We will close your Chat account and terminate your access to Yahoo!
Chat powered by Lycos. All of the content and access rights stored in connection with
your Chat account will be deleted, although we may continue to store your personal data
for a further period as required by law.
What if I want to continue to use Chat?
Noesis Chat will be taking over Yahoo! Chat powered by Lycos.
If you would like to continue using the Chat service provided by Noesis
you can migrate your information by
following this link.
You consent to moving your personal data stored with Lycos to Noesis.
Please be aware that you will need to accept a new set of terms and conditions
as your contract with Lycos is being terminated.
