  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So good to see this thread so busy and with new folks that is just great. Hi Jay and Martha hope you stick around for awhile. I usually only post once a day due to other committments.
Today is a very very rainy one. And of course quite dismal outside. WE even had a few lights flicker at school today and again tonight but no power outs thank heavens. Guess I should make sure I know were the matches are.
dave I haven't had the privilege of having gk's yet but we visited a dear friend and wife who just had their first child as a couple. He is his first son her second and he is adorable. I could get used to hanging out with a wee beauty like that.

Hello all!

Marty--welcome, and hello! We are so glad to have you join us!

Jan, thank you for those lovely GIANT graphics! So cute!

Claire, mother and baby are doing well. :) How are your puppies?

Dave, I agree. I must admit that when the three grandchildren who live near me come over I am always relieved when mama comes back to get them. Not that we don't have fun. And of course I love them so much. But...I just don't have the stamina I once had to keep up with all that energy. So I enjoy them and love them and play with them--and give my daughter an extra hug as she goes out the door.

Love to all of you. May you have a lovely, blessed day in the Lord!

Gratefulgrace.. Thanks for the words, warm the heart more than any candle, though I have a few in store..just in case our eleccy goes out!

it's amazing how much info, help, love and sharing there is here, I wanted to go to college, being retired I have to remind myself of Moses and Abraham to name only two who waited and were not young! What is it they say about "the best is yet to be?" Great, so much to look forward to, all of us. Thanks again.

Hi meblonde, my main work was that of telephonist, G.P.O. and hospitals, brought 3 sons and 3 daughters up..Oh that was work! Strangely I didnot think to prepare for them all leaving one day, believe me that was "retirement" a sort of Help, what do you do now?

you may have ideas for your retirement, what a funny word really, we donot retire from life. (musing on life!)
jean.. Do you have plans?

I am still working as a special education aide formerly was an RN. I am still bringing up my sons sort of. 3 of 4 still at home although older. One is disabled almost 29 his older brother is still at home too. It is too expensive where I live for young people to get their own place. My 21 year old has plans to try to move out with a friend soon but he has snagged a pretty good job so can afford it. He will notice a huge difference not all good but I am still encouraging him to go for it. If he decided to go back to school I might consider letting him back for a spell. That is the way of the world here where I live. The reason I am not sure about retirement is I don't think I could afford not to have a steady paycheck every two weeks and hubby isn't making much now since he closed his unsucessful busines a few years ago. He loves what he does but it is similar to my job and not unionized so pay is poor. We have lots of "equity" in our home but I have no desire to move yet.

I like my job. But I'm tired, tired of playing catch up all weekend long. I'm tired of not having more time with my husband.
For the first time in years I will beable to go on vacation with him anytime of the month instead of just the middle. And for 2 weeks instead of just one.
We already planed a 2 week vaction in 2009 to a place we have gone to for the last past 10 years salom fishing.. In 2009 we can go for 2 weeks!!!
I can't wait to take my little yorkie ( God keep her well for a few more years) to the park every morning and spend eveytday with her, instead of her being home alone form 7:30 to 3:30..
I work 8-5 and my hubby workd 7-3. I can't wait to have dinner on the table and a bath ready for my hubby when he comes through the door with all my chores done!
I can't wait!!!!
My mother tells me.. Don't wish your life away. But I want Aug 2009 to be here tomorrow..
My mother is still alive she is 88 she is a twin and they both still live on their own and walk the streets of their small town everyday..I can't wait to be more like my mother.. and be a stay at home wife..

I think it is great that you all have such plans and ambitions.:)

We just take one day at a time because it is what the Lord gives us. We are still waiting for another appointment for my husband's next MRI scan, then hopefully we should know what, if any treatment he is going to have. We are still hoping to spend some time with our US friends later in the year though :) :)
