  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What? No chit chat since December 23rd????
Well! We'll just have to remedy that!
It's a glorious day here, sunny and so very mild. I think the warmth is going to lure me outside to piddle around in the yard and most assuredly to go try to count the puppies my little Bella had last night after dark!
Ok. I'm filling orders now. Who wants which one? Doesn't matter, they all look the same. You can each just close your eyes and point and that's the pup you'll get!
 Have a great day, everyone!

I used to come here a lot, Claire. I loved this thread. It used to be so much fun to compare gardening notes, and pictures of birds. And to laugh together.

I miss my dear brothers and sisters so much. But things changed.

If you want to try to revive it, I will help.

Claire I am so glad you revived the Chit Chat. I was thinking the same as you that is was a shame no one was using our STICKY chit chat. Alot share on He's My All's thread now I guess. jim1947 used to be a great contributer to this thread here.

WOW new puppies? That is great what kind are they? We already have one dog it used to be two but our oldest golden retreiver (15) died the first weekend in DEC. Her pal is still a bit draggy and blue about it.
Are you a dog breeder?
Our weather is overcast and cloudy with chance of rain and maybe a sunny interlude this afternoon.(I sure hope so).
I got up earlier than I wanted to to feed the dog and make breakfast for my Korean student so I may nap later or read. I just read through my entire issue of Guideposts almost in one sitting. I always enjoy them so much.
What do you plant in your garden this time of year Claire? Mine is all sleepy and dormant at the moment. We have lots of bushes that bloom in the spring. Rhododendrons and a few Azaleas and a few perennial plants that come up in the beds. I don't spend too much time garndening as I live in such a green area with a green space to my east that grows amazing ferns and other wild blooming vines and stuff. I have thought about planting bulbs in the fall but never get around to it. I do have a couple of blooming house plants that I enjoy an african violet and a christmas cactus. The cactus was sadly neglected and needs repotting but I am just reviving it now and it is wonderful to see what water and a bit of fertilizer can do.

Jan, like you I am looking at a dormant garden. The exception is pansies--they bloom here in Texas all winter long, then die in spring when it becomes hot. This is so amazing!

We have panzies here too that bloom all year but I have never planted any in the garden although I have done tubs of them at times. I am thinking I may do that with my spring bulbs as I did buy them but never planted them. They are pretty encouraging to see in the spring. Hope you are doing ok. Jan

I wanted to post a picture of my husbands Christmas village, but they come up so big. Can someone tell me what size to use at photobucket so they aren't so big.

By posting your pics at photobucket and pasteing their urls here
IT DOESN'T MATTER how BIG they are

to SHOW pics that fill the pages here,
ie: without adding scroll-bars to enable full pcture viewing
YOU NEED, to reduce the PIC SIZE
before, you send them to photobucket

I suggest that you do a properties-page check
on 'copies' of pics you wish to show
and NOTE: the pic size [in pixels]

then, post one of them here
if, it appears BIGGER than you wish
reduce them in PAINT in terms of percentage
[say: 90% of original TO BEGIN WITH]
send that to photobucket having altered the 'picname'
~ image001a.jpeg, then image001b.jpeg
THEN.... EDIT the url shown to each new one
and repeat this procedure
until you arrive-at Your IDEAL pic-size [?]

In future....
send only pics of, this 'ideal size' to photobucket
to enjoy seeing full page views
that remain viewable in usual thread size

I set my camera to take 1Mb sized pics [limit]
and file sizes vary around 500Kbs each on average

Jan, I'ts so good to hear from you!

It's not too late to plant spring bulbs, if you can dig the holes, that is, if the soil is not too icy. I've planted bulbs this late, and still had an awesome showing come spring--they just were a little later than otherwise.

I am doing well. My DH, teens and I went skiing for a few days. This was so great!

Now I'm trying to catch up with the house, put away ski clothes, etc. I guess I'll start taking down Christmas decor on Monday. I'm always so sad when I do that...

No, I'm not a dog breeder. I'm what some would call an 'irresponsible pet owner' but it was completely out of my control. I moved into this house and the previous owners abandoned their dog, Ace. I tried and tried to find a home for him, even the 'no kill' kennels are full right now. So I kept him and unbeknownest (is that a word?) to me, my little girl dog, Bella, was more mature than I thought. I did not have the funds to have Ace fixed so we now have four little squigglers. I will find homes for them. I will not let them propogate any further. And Bella has an appointment in two weeks with the vet, now that I have regained control of my finances (or should I say 'my spending'?)!
In the meantime, the grand daughters and I thought it only fitting that the pups be named in honor of their papa, Ace.
So we are calling them King, Queenie, Jack and Spade. I have no idea (yet) if their gender fits their respective names, but it's fun to watch and wonder anyway.
But!! if any of you are down Texas' way in the next few months, you are welcome to take your pick!
Revive this thread? By all means, let's.
No garden to tend really, just a yard for now. But it's a beautiful day to sit and wonder what the spring will bring...
daydreaming the afternoon away now.
Take care all.

I love the names of the pups! So clever to name them after their daddy Ace. So funny. Thanks for the laugh.

you seem to be doing that alot lately dave. Or is it just that they remember you. All I have to do is click my link to CF and I am already signed in. It is only when they go offline for awhile for upgrades and stuff that I have to resign in. and that is even if I have totally shut down the computer.
I love the names of the dogs too claire they are great.I am a sucker for a cute puppy but we have decided that Buffy will be our last dog. She still misses Shiloh but we are planning to be pet free when we retire which will be in a few years. I am hoping Buffy will live as long as Shiloh did which would be 4 more years 15 incredibly long for the breed.
Ariel it is wonderful that you got some family time over the holiday. I used to ski but stopped quite a few years back. No one else in my family skied thenas hubby had bum knees and it was hard to find time to go alone what with the childcare responsibilites and stuff. My youngest son skies now and my disabled son does once a year for 5 weeks of lessons. He loves it. Jan

but sometimes, I just close the PC and get off to bed
next time I click into CF it shows me already logged-in

In the early days of my CF membership I would click on REMEMBER ME but havent done so in-ages
Indeed I dont recall, when, last I did that

This last-occasion, simply surprised me

(((((HUGS))))) dear Claire, you make me smile!

And of course you are right. I can have that puppy perfectly trained (...ahem...my poodle thinks it's more that he has me perfectly trained....) And I won't even think about how my darling husband will roll his eyes and fall backward, and I did tell you that he says that it's a good thing that he loves me a lot?

I received new email alerts all-morning, today

"You have a new email from christianforums.com click the link etc"

Upon opening my mailbox I found almost a dozen
PM alerts from CF and all, were repeat-sendings
going back many months [????????????????]

Is, the CF machine [I wonder] suffering from, a 'gliche' ???

Upon refreshing GE forums...
Of-course, I find, that there are, no NEW PM's
waiting for me
