We had some snow for Christmas.........sort of....It started to snow last night and we ended up with 5 inches of the white stuff. It won't last long though,,,,too mild for that.

To-day is Boxing Day in both the UK and Canada. Someone asked me what Boxing Day was. It started in England when the Lords of the manors gave each of their servants a "box", a gift for their service. It became a day when we rewarded all the servants, such as the posties and delivery people. Eventually it just became another holiday, and a time to return the things we didn't like for Christmas......the commercialization of everything.

You think Boxing Day is Dumb. How come. It was actually also a time people traditionally reached out and helped the poor of the community. I really balk at the shopping thing on Boxing Day, there is nothing I need that is worth getting up in the wee hours of the am and standing in lines for. Most stores don't allow returns on Boxing Day anymore. I managed to do one return today though. Cheers. PS Glad you got snow Jim it is nippy here but all the snow is going on the mountains round about none here altho the forcast keeps promising. gg

Not original boxing day for which it really got it start. But here in the states it's let take everything back day!! Some people no matter how hard you try, you can never get them what they like, so glad they came out with gift cards. That's what I meant. Sorry I should have explained myself better

We finally got about 2in of snow,ski places are really crying I think it's great no snow!!

Actuallly I kind of figured that Bonnie. Not to worry. I only had to take back one outfit but it wasn't cuz I did't like it. Unfortunately the bigger size was way too much bigger so had to make a different choice. Oh well. My mother in law can't shop much anymore so she just gives my kids money which they love. gg

Hey is that a good thing"way to big" for me it would be a real good thing if I could start saying that. Am having a knee problem and am thinking it is because too much weight on these old knees(they've already been replaced once). Thanks gg for seeing what I meant to say.

I got an old navy sweater jacket whatever it is you know the new kind that has the seams going up the sidesand they zipwitha stand up color. from my Son. and I didi not want to hurt him telling him tha tit was too small. so I finally got to the old navy today 40 miles away which is hard for me to do when I work and have kids later and my H. who thinks I should not go out of town alone . well anyway I got it exchanged today lucky me they had one exactly like mine and the size larger .
when my son came to get Hannah tonite I had it aon and he said .I knew it would fit perfect.looks good. ( if he only knew) what I went through to get there !! I just said ah huh !!!

Good for you. You had a real reason to exchange it but some people just are not happy not matter what you get them, and then some people just exchange gifts for the money(I would rather they say give me money, no skin off my back--lot easier that way) see what I mean?

I see what you mean , I just did not want to hurt his feelings . he is not a big shopper to start with and yes I do like it and just wanted it to fit and not let him know that it was too small.

Me neither and I sure wish the outfit had worked. It was just designed weird with no give in the waist event though it was supposed to be elastic waisted. The hips fit awesome but had to contort to get the waist over the hips. It was dumb and made overseas were people are smaller. I could have altered it but was hoping that the large would work. Well the waist fit but the hips were not flattering at all. I like the alternative tho and I don't think My mom in law cared really. How was Christmas for y'all. We had a pretty quiet but nice day. gg

We awoke this morning to a blanket of snow and still snowing quite hard. It let up at noon, and now we are enjoying bright sunlight, but still coolish.

Snow would be nice. It has not been too bad today. A bit of sun and cloud too. I had to go out for a bit and get groceries and stuff but generally had a pretty quiet day today. Yesterday I picked up my neice from the ferry we shopped and then I drove her about 90 kms to her friends place and then came back. Our car started making weirder noises than it has been making and the engine light went on. Not good. It isn't even that old a car 2003 but we can't get it seen till at least Tuesday. I hope it isn't anything major.

Hey gg, my "engine light" came on today also.Mines a 2000 Ply. Breeze. Last time it did this I had it put on the computer and said some little sensor was dirty,they cleaned it or replaced it and it was fine. Sometimes the light will come on even is your gas lid isn't on right. Doesn't take much for it to come on. Look on the net about it there's a lot of info even us women can understand.

Well I'm going to do a little bragging!! And it's about my daughter, so those of you who don't like people who brag about their kids, can stop reading this now!!
Eleven years ago tonight my daughter and her boyfriend got married!! Eleven hears ago people!! It hasn't always been a bed of roses,neither one have made a million bucks, but by the grace of God they are married with two great kids, their own home(which they got themselves) three cars(pretty new), not tons of debt,(try to live on a budget), both have very respectables jobs(him a truck driver-home at night)(her-nurse)and on the same jobs for about yrs. each. They both love the Lord but could work on this area a little more(couldn't we all)They are active in their community,church and their kids school. But most of all they stuck it out all these years and have stayed faithful to each other and their wedding vows!! I know for us "olders" this may not be such a big deal but it is for this generation of young adults. And it is even more important for their children to see them together and loving each other and the Lord!
Eleven years ago tonight it snowed the whole week and that night. Most of the family were from out of town so weather conditions played a big part in the wedding. All the family made it and it was a great night, the decorations were pottiest and the colors were Christmas red and evergreen green, really pretty.
Ok enough if anyone else would like to brag on their kids go right ahead, I'll read it for sure, I think our kids need a little bragging about once in awhile
