Mary and I have just got back home
after her Upper Gastro-Intestinal Endoscopy appointment [this-afternoon]

May was so 'high', on her mild sedation
that she cannot recall if the technician said he had taken two biopsies
or, that he would take one or two biopsies
if, he saw anything that warranted further investigation
So, now we wait for our doctor to receive details of the 'findings'
and whether a diagnosis has been made

If, 'nothing was found'... Mary will receive another appointment
to have the same area examined via CT scan
and, if nothing is seen there, she will have-to undergo the lower GI endoscopy

Isn't life 'fun' ?....
I have had three, of those [two, while fully-conscious]
so, I can impart knowledge [from my experience :D]

Mary has a bit of a sore throat, but we have no way of knowing
whether that is the result of her having had a biopsy taken
or simply,
from the transit of the endoscope.... Time, will tell

Have a good day everyone

Maybe it won't be too long before you hear a report...
how is she doing?

Thank you Shirley Sis'

I have told-her several times
~that
"no news is good news"
~that
"we worry most, regarding the unknown and so-many possibilities"
~and that
"once we know what the problem is
we can discover some way to control it's ability, to affect her so"

Mary is learning to CHOOSE, what [?] is LESS-LIKELY
to stimulate the horrible symptoms

The Technician asked Mary, which food item seemed to affect her MOST
and before Mary could reply
he proffered.... "Bread, Potatoes, Cake" ?
to which, Mary was very-quick, to agree these were WORST offenders

Mary seems to cope okay with soups and some rice meals and, I will
on the 'next occasion'
suggest the inclusion of some croutons [home made]
Because, I feel it is 'wrong' for her to change her diet, so-completely
ie: to completely remove these starches from her diet
and might, do better to find some other way to include them [back-in]

eg. Mary could [I believe]
include potatoes within the soup
via mashed potato [as a 'thickener' or, included without bulk]
and also bread as dispersed 'breadcrumbs'

Perhaps, with these HIDDEN [in such a way] ...we can 'get around'
any adopted psychosomatic BLOCKS [?] that may prevent her 'TRYING'
~If you know a foodstuff will make you retch ...
then, you will be loathe to attempt to swallow it
and could be sick anyway [just by thinking.. about past episodes]

We have these things, to work on :prayer:
In our search to find a way 'back' [to 'normal']

We have another appointment 'booked' ~for 'next week'
Mary is to have a CT Scan of the same area

Perhaps, they saw little or nothing remarkable inside her tubes /stomach
and are now going to look
inside the 'meat', of those parts they examined [yesterday]

Yes. we will see [learn]

dave

add:

Perhaps, having suffered so violently
from the gagging and vomiting of those SPECIFIC ITEMS
Mary is truly fretting further-engagements [with these 'foes' to comfort]

Not 'everything' will go down the pipe [?]

Yes, Mary describes it, as:

" When I swallow, it seems as if I have taken too large of a 'bite'
and, swallowed it unchewed, and it gets 'caught'
"
[*Mary eats slowly and, chews everything well]

"If then, I take a sip of liquid,
it does not pass the blockage, but simply continues to fill up the pipe
breaking wind is not possible
and the only route to recovery follows regurgitation
which is, almost always 'spontaneous'
"

For 'that' she is grateful....
On the other hand, I am conversant with the 'Heimlich Maneuvre'
and CPR, my having trained with St. John's Ambulance Brigade

It is of-course, a difficult situation to have-to witness
Thus far, Mary has been coping quite well

Yep....it sounds unpleasant for sure. I was able to get food down and it stayed down...just was slow moving along the esophagus.
I had a friend get her esophagus "stretched"....a common procedure I guess. :o

I am in the "holiday" mood....I enjoy seeing old, vintage decorations; I gave most of mine away a long time ago. But by web, I can enjoy them again.

Many are dealing with very cold temps today and power outages....brrrrrr. We are coldder here but still warm and temperate compared to other places.

Hi all.

Dave, I pray the doctors find an answer soon to Mary's problems. I imagine it's not very pleasant for her.

David and I were at a Christmas dinner last night for volunteers and others involved with the charity shop I volunteer at as well as the directors of the shop. The shop is called Girassol and you can find out about it here: www.girassolcharityshop.weebly.com . The Kellys' whom you'll see on a short video on the website have now welcomed their 4th child. They were telling us about the projects which the money from the shop has funded. It's such a blessing to be involved.

Doing a bit of taxiing today- picked up son from Asda earlier and will be doing the same from the sports forum later, then heading to KFC for takeaway tea.

Have a great day!

Gillian

There have been several [around here]
having had their gall bladders removed [RECENTLY]
and three [#] close by, with 'cancer of the pancreas'

Mary had entertained, thoughts of her having something similar
but without knowing WHAT it is, I have encouraged her to cease thinking so-negatively
and to await results of tests, and a real diagnosis

Esophageal Dilation is quite common, something-like 'angioplasty'
and a stent may be inserted to keep the 'tube' OPEN

Mary too, is in festive spirit ... Playing carols [children's and choral choirs] :)

When I see baubles and stuff that look older, I am reminded of my childhood
and, of the moneybox Dad made to sit above the fireplace
On it he had written...
"Merry Christmas One and All
from David, Derek, Janet and Paul
"

It would be pointed out to visitors, that they could choose to 'gift some coins
toward our Christmas Fare [sort of 'begging' ~I thought]
Oh well!
